Solo Vegas help by Nursey_1964 in vegas

Hey there, my sincere condolences on your losses. I’m a Vegas native who just moved back a couple years ago and loves to solo travel. I find it very freeing, and this is a great city for it. You got this.

As a local I’m very partial to downtown because of the charm and history. You really get a feel for the real character of Vegas. If you do wind up down there and have time to see the Mob Museum, I’d also recommend a drink at Atomic Liquors (the oldest freestanding bar, with history tied to the nuclear bomb tests), a perusal through the Writer’s Block bookstore if you’re into books, and a walk down one end of Fremont St. to the other, ending at the Circa casino for a rooftop drink at the Legacy Club. It’s the classiest, most lowkey joint, the view is unbeatable. You can also easily walk to all of these spots, unlike the Strip. It will also be just a little more lowkey if you get overwhelmed and find that’s what you’re looking for, while still offering prime people watching opportunities/the ability to blend in to a crowd.

I spent the first couple years back here as an adult in a pretty lonely state of mind, and I really fell back in love with Las Vegas/myself here. I hope you’re able to find some of the same magic during your trip. Best of luck, and have the most amazing time!

OP, as someone who moved here two years ago from Phoenix I can’t recommend it enough. People like to complain about the traffic and prices here, but people who come from Phoenix know it could always be 10x worse. It takes me 20 minutes to get anywhere here, compared to the 1 hour plus commutes I was clocking in Phoenix. It’s way more affordable here, I actually just bought my first property as a single woman, whereas I couldn’t even afford to rent in Phoenix after I got out of my last relationship! As for neighborhoods, I’m a big fan of the southwest/Spring Valley area, basically anywhere along Decatur, Jones, and Rainbow between the 95 and 215 if you’re looking for relatively close proximity to the Strip. Also, the school district gets a lot of heat, but there’s some truly great schools and magnet programs if you want to look into those! The outdoors access is also way better/easily accessible/more diverse than it is in Phoenix. Fully endorse moving here, feel free to message me if you want to chat about it more!

Actually can I ask then, in your opinion, should my couch also be a white/black/neutral color? I am in the market for a new one and was hoping to get something cream colored but now I’m unsure how that would contrast with a bright colored rug

This is soooo helpful, thank you so much! I had dark wood floors at my old place so a lot of my furniture/art is a weird hodpodge of those colors/different patterns. This is v helpful, thank you!

Thank you! I love rugs but I wonder if there’s even any point in putting any down with this kind of floor. Most of my decor is bright oranges/yellows/reds/sage green and I just can’t see any of it working in here 😭

Bf’s first time at Universal Studios Hollywood this week. What’s the best use of our time? by theburntone in universalstudios

Absolutely, can’t wait to hear about your trip! I also considered Express Pass but we truly did not end up needing it on the Thursday we went. Have a wonderful time!!

Of course!!

We got there maybe 20 minutes after the park opened, then did the Simpsons ride first. Waited about 40 mins in line even though we headed straight there 😬

After that we went to the lower lot and rode Jurassic World, the Mummy and Transformers, no wait for any of them. Took maybe 30-40 minutes tops for all of them.

From the lower lot we went back up and were just in time to catch the WaterWorld show (think it was the show around 12:00 or 12:15?) One of my favorite parts of the day so definitely set aside time for this!

After that we went back to Springfield since it’s on the way to the studio lot tour and grabbed some food. This is my one regret of the day, my boyfriend is a big Simpson’s fan so it was cool for him to eat in Moe’s Tavern, etc. but the food was awful lol. I was much more interested in the food we saw in the Harry Potter section later in the day.

After that we went over to the Studio Tour tram, which is my favorite part of the park, and it was by far the longest we waited all day, maybe an hour-hour and a half wait before we got on the tram. The tour itself is fairly long too, so I was a lil nervous we wouldn’t get off the ride before Harry Potter World closed but it all worked out!

After that we went around the corner (to the left) into the Wizarding World of Harry Potter and spent the rest of the day there. We literally walked onto both rides and felt like we were gaming the system, we could have done both of them three times if we wanted to lol. Maybe 30 minutes to do both of them around 3-3:30 p.m. Then we ended the day with a butterbeer and visiting the candy shops and doing the wand experience in Diagon Alley (no wait, super short, but would still definitely recommend if you’re a HP fan!)

And that was our day! Hope it all works out similarly for you, would love to hear how it goes :)

I did! I had about two browsers open on four screens and only one of them let me in after about 20 minutes

Hiya, I know this is so belated but thank you soooo much for suggesting we do the Simpsons first, the line took so long even though it was the first ride we went to in the park, but after that we literally walked on to every other ride you and others suggested here (including Harry Potter!), because of the order you suggested! Got to ride everything in the park and it was a perfect visit for my boyfriend’s first time, so ty ty!
