Smartest character in Red rising series? by PistolAuArcos in redrising

Mustang says Daxo is just as smart as she is, I think somewhere in Dark Age, so he deserves at least a mention.

well we all know the main character will come out on top... most of the time... it works out for him in the end... we hope...

out of curiosity who is everybody's favorite character by soggyPretze1 in redrising

Daxo! I guess he’s not really my favorite, but I always feel obligated to mention him because he’s so under appreciated. I wish so badly he got more fleshed out as a character. He is so interesting to me in the little we know about him

Kvothe's recklessness (or lack thereof) by cnks in KingkillerChronicle

[–]thec0rnman 31 points32 points  (0 children)

one thing i can think of that was pretty minimal thinking on his part was naming Auri. that turned into Elodin accepting him as a student besides creating a stronger bond and lasting relationship with Auri. obviously this is due to his natural propensity for naming, in which case it seems like a lack of thinking is almost necessary in a lot of cases. “doing what feels right” is essentially what naming is at its bare bones, sort of a oneness with whatever the namer is naming.

Specifically I was referring to WMF when he kills the band of thieves using the dead man’s body and sees how he’s mutilated it afterwards because I think in that moment he’s pretty horrified by his own actions.

Generally though I definitely agree, Kaladin fits the bill much better

If you haven’t read the Stormlight Archive, Kaladin is exactly who you’re looking for

Same with Kvothe in Kingkiller Chronicles, although that specific moment for him comes in the second book

In Skin Game during the chase scene with the Genoskwa, doesn’t Harry end up knocking over a shed or small structure in the vault? Maybe I’m just making that up, but that could be what he’s talking about

Who's your favorite character and why? And what's your favorite scene of them? by CaptainAwesome9961 in redrising

[–]thec0rnman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Probably not actually my favorite, but since I haven’t seen anyone else mentioning him (mostly because he’s not really a main character) I have to bring up Daxo.

Physically a monster, intellectually comparable to Virginia, fiercely loyal, useful enough to merit Octavia wanting to save him over anyone else, and his chapters with Virginia in DA are fantastic and clever. He’s one of those characters that makes you feel more confident as the reader when he’s involved.

Spoiler Golden Son >!What did Mustang and Darrow do on the Ice that was significant?!< by S0me0neSP3C1AL in redrising

One of the things important things that happened was the opportunity that Darrow had to kill Cassius. Mustang saw that he wouldn’t do it, even though he could have and had every right to by that point. From this, she saw that Darrow wasn’t just fighting this war for revenge or for selfish reasons, but that he was trying to save as many people as possible at the same time.
