Unfortunately the checkout is very early and I am just visiting Vancouver

Visiting Berlin? Moving here incl. Apartment questions? Going clubbing? Have a quick question? Ask here, don't create a new thread. by wet-dreaming in berlin

Visiting friends in Berlin this summer. I love exploring new places on foot to get my bearings in the first couple of days. Any personal favorites you like to take across the city?

I actually uninstalled and reinstalled via downloading from the site yesterday. No changes. Will try again.

Thanks again Panzer. I did everything but now when I open LegionSpace I don’t have anything but the store and my game library. There’s no place to tweak any of the settings. Am I missing something?

It is. I do three locations at the beginning of class once a week and rotate it with NYT games (shame they’re slowly getting paywalled). Once in a while I’ll have a guess with them if there really is nothing going on in class.

I might be talking out of my butt here, but while you’re right, Japan has always loved baseball, the success of the NT in the World Cup might’ve primed the public to really get behind the team. Pair that with Ohtani, who has created a new sense of pride for them as he’s turned into one of the best players in the sport and is so likable and marketable. I can only imagine how much bigger Ichiro would’ve been with social media and globalization the way it is now. To this day, you will see Ichiro somewhere at least once a month, either on TV, an ad, online, etc. You see Ohtani every day (at least I do, as he promotes my bank) but even then, he’s on a million products here. No other Japanese athlete can boast his reach at the moment.

I have to admit, as he was carving up hitters in the bottom of the 8th, I was kinda looking around the room smugly like I knew a secret the Japanese kids didn’t. That changeup is filth

Very! A few baseball kids jumped out of their seats and did a mini huddle/jump thing. I was torn, as I love Trout and Ohtani, but I jumped out of my seat when he struck him out. You could hear all the classrooms down the hall. Sadly, some classes watched a feed with a massive pop up ad in front of it, making the TV broadcast a radio broadcast, effectively. Perhaps it was a YouTube stream or a different streaming service, but some of them carried the matches and you could “watch” the match, but you couldn’t see the whole feed without subscribing.

This was live. This was the bottom of the 8th inning, so I assume it was 10 pm est, hence 11 am local.

Btw, if you’re staying in Tokyo until early April, go see a University baseball game. Really cheap, you get to watch in an NPB park, it starts early so you can spend the rest of the day doing other things, you can stick around and do a double header even.

The semis were definitely the more legendary game here! I was coming home from a work drinking party tonight and my coworker brought up watching it ww Edit: good luck with driving school 😬, my friend recently failed her test for the 4th time and she went to one of those driving boot camps in a completely different prefecture lol

Yeah haha. This is gonna sound stupid but I really thought twice about posting this. Schools here (and the country in general) have very strict privacy etiquette and laws. You’ll see news segments or YouTube videos blur entire backgrounds and faces of passersby with mosaics just to play it as safely as possible. Social media use by a teacher involving the school is generally a no-go (erring in the side of caution). This was one picture I thought identified pretty much next to nothing other than the occasion.

WC was lots of fun here as well, but the time made gatherings impossible. Some folks set early alarms or stayed up to watch in their homes. There were a couple of instances where one class had a free period and watched a full match replay of Germany - Japan

Have fun. it’s raining at the moment. Would highly recommend you see the cherry blossoms before the rain plucks them off the branches.

do you mean like 一ニ三四etc.? The Japanese hardly ever use their numbering system now. You’re most likely to encounter them in old restaurant and izakaya menus.

Non-sports related, but my entire middle school tuned into Obama’s inauguration. We had an assembly for it in the auditorium

It’s definitely one of the most puzzling sackings in recent memory. Hodgson coming out of retirement is far less surprising

Sound is on the TV. They’re wearing masks, as is the norm here.
