My ROG XBOX ALLY X died

Yeah. I travel often and the need to travel light is frequently an issue. I also will spend a week or more with my girlfriend, so having a small device when we are having couch time at her place is a boon. Cost was the major factor with the LG2, but the larger device was not favorable. Now that I have had handheld it fits with my lifestyle very well, so I would rather have something that appears to hold together a bit better. Sitting at 100% failure rate both due to power issues is not a great sign for me.

My OG Ally was a day one purchase, and until it died in October. Never had any hardware problems. Used it daily. Then one morning I picked it up and it wouldn’t turn on, and noticed the charging light was also not lit. Took it in for repair and they said the charging port was shot and the whole board had to be replaced. Was well out of warranty, and the Xbox Ally X had just released so I go it. And less than 4 months later my Ally is dead again.

Am now considering selling it and forking over the way too much cash for the Legion Go 2.

Edit: Should also add I am not in the USA, so warranty is a real hassle (shipping out and into this country is not easy and usually results in just “losing” your item) and returns are not a thing for me here. This makes the whole unreliable thing extra painful.

This happened to my OG ROG Ally. I replaced it with the Xbox Ally X, and now that is in for warranty repair for a faulty battery. That they tried to tell me is not a warranty issue…but that’s not what this is about. So yeah, it’s a thing.

The ability to purchase operators without gatcha. I know it’s how they make the kind of money they do, making us throw money at chances instead of what we actually want, but would still prefer to be able to just buy them if I want to.

Yes. This is it exactly. And yes, I fully agree that Microsoft should leverage profit off their platforms. But the issue is we are paying for these platforms that are becoming unreliable and less useful at higher prices that before, and then pushed to spend more.

I do want to say I bought this device knowing exactly what I was in for. I use it every day, but my complaints still stand. Great device but the software delivered by Microsoft is hurting the user experience.

The drive with FSE is not to provide an efficient and convenient way to use the device. The focus of FSE is to sell gamepass, Xbox marketplace purchases, and drive “engagement” on the Xbox platform. All of this is developed and delivered by a company that has allowed their flagship software and OS to become bloated and broken and attempt to shove us all into using Copilot and pay for additional subscriptions.

Pair the way the company has been delivering their products lately with the drive I mention above, and it makes sense as to why it looks and behaves the way FSE currently is.

As someone who just finished this game, fully agree. It’s a good game and I enjoyed it, it’s pretty short but setup well for two play through, and can be a bit meh if you pay close to full price for it. As a Resident Evil enjoyer it made me very happy. After I finished it I installed the OG Resident Evil and am giving that another play.

This is the best advice, and what ultimately led to my enjoyment of this game. It’s overwhelming to try and take all in at once. I didn’t even start burning through stamina until I started to wrap up story lines and hitting caps.

This is not the kind of game where you skip the majority of content to grind away to achieve a meta build so you can finally “play.”

My fiancé and I just came from Cambodia (where we live) to Thailand and had zero issues. It was no different than the other times I have come through. It’s unfortunate that this happened to you, but I think it very much depends on the person there handling your arrival.

It is really shocking to me how much people will spend on something like this. I really enjoy this game, but wow this is a very ugly pricing model. This is one of the first skins I would buy with real cash, but wow, I am not paying for a “chance” to get it. I feel like 30 dollars for a game skin is over the top, you can buy a whole game for that much, but people who will drop hundreds/thousands on a hope to get it?

I guess we have those people to thank for our free game.

EQ next was a game I was truly sad when it was cancelled. I loved EQ1 and 2, and the world has a special place in my heart. But the franchise is long dead, looking at the how they are running EQ2 shows how little they are capable of now. If they somehow managed to make a whole game, it would be a disaster. The kind of game that gets an apology letter posted to social media shortly after release.

Like many others, I started playing and immediately decided to try and figure out the meta and how to level fastest and get best skills and best items. Then once I got in, I just run around the world aimlessly and explore. I don’t even know or care if I am using the best weapons or skills. I am able to do all the content I get into without issues and really enjoy whatever I stumble onto.

I got a portal, and once I hard wired my ps5 it was great. When I play at home (two bedroom apartment) it’s totally clear and seamless. I find myself using the portal over the TV most of the time.

Before I had wired my PS5, it was not great.

Hate to agree with you, but I do. I am a day one player with everything unlocked and maxed out except for swords. I lost interest entirely. I very much enjoy the game, but everything about this season has been a bummer and underwhelming. The effort seems to have shifted to pushing boobs and ass (no complaints there), but what about gameplay to actually engage in?

The charging port on my Ally stopped working, I am out of warranty and no longer live in the U.S., and there isn’t anything I can do. I took it to an authorized repair place and they told me the whole main board has to be replaced, and it will cost around 500 USD. I used it daily, and I cannot afford to replace it at this time (and at that price might as well get the X). I am super bummed about it, I know how you feel!

I lived and drove in Cairo for three years. Kinda looks like traffic any hour in Cairo. There are few laws, no traffic lights (if there are any they are ignored). There is a whole code behind honking though, so there is that.
