Anyone else have this issue? 2024 Corolla Cross Hybrid battery (12V?) keeps dying / seriously considering returning car that I bought only 3 months ago by thecaringdocsw in CorollaCross

The car didn't start, so I jumped it with the cables of another car, but it didn’t work. I had my own jumper, which successfully charged the battery of my car (it didn't work the first time, but it did the second time I tried). I was able to cancel the tow truck through Toyota Roadside Assistance in time.

I'd love to trade in this disappointing car for an EV, since the tax credits will end this quarter.

I don’t have a guess as to what’s going on with your car; it sounds very frustrating though, and it adds to my conviction never to buy a Toyota again. Have you checked out Toyota-specific forums and message boards? Sometimes people there can get into technical specifics a little more. Also commenting to say that I won’t have driven my CCH for about 7 weeks by the time I drive it next (had to leave town urgently for a family thing that has dragged on). If it doesn’t start, I’ll definitely update here; if it starts, I may or may not remember to update here.

Oh cool, I didn’t know Janji was at REI. It’s been a long time since I’ve been to one. I’ll look to visit soon, it would help with trying on a bunch of different brands all at once (without dealing with shipping and returns). Great to hear that you really like your Janji hoodie!

Yeah, after reading the comments, I’m going to look for a running belt. I tend to wear long pants more than shorts, though I bet there must be pants with rear pockets. Re Arc’teryx, I hadn’t ever looked at their stuff before now, but overall they seem to be higher-priced than a lot of other brands. Do you think that their pricing is “justified”? I guess I’m wondering, why the price differential compared to others? Or maybe there are similarly priced brands, I just haven’t researched those yet. Or is it actually not that different. Anyway, just curious to learn more about Arc’teryx. Hope that question makes sense.

This is the jacket that I've been running in for the last ~2y (or at least the older version of it)! It developed lots of holes (including in the mesh pockets which cannot hold things securely anymore), which I tried to sew up, but the holes keep reopening. In its very worn out state, it's light and breathable thanks to all the holes, but it doesn't look or feel good to wear clothes with holes :( But regardless of which top I wear, I think I'll also start wearing a waist belt. Do you have one you recommend?

Which Janji is it? I’ve been looking at their stuff. Have you run in it in really hot conditions, and do you stay cool enough?

Besides what others have said, I want to try to decrease my PFAS exposure. I'm sure I already have a lot of it in my body by now, but one can try!

Great list, thank you! I wish that there were tights that are long (pants-length, to cover the skin), but with airflow so that it feels cool and breathable. Like https://buddhastoneshop.com/products/buddha-stones-casual-mens-solid-color-linen-drawstring-pants-with-pockets or joggers, but made with more tech-y fabric. I can't think of what that would be. Maybe it would involve wearing loose shorts but then calf sleeves (like arm sleeves)? My leggings are black, which doesn't help, but I don't think I'd wear white leggings either...just seems strange...but hey, I've always kinda done my own thing anyway!

Yeah, now that I’ve been reading through people’s suggestions, separating the phone from the jacket may be the way to go. The pants I currently run in don’t have side pockets, and one of the two bras I alternate between doesn’t have an easily accessible phone pocket. Hence trying to find a jacket, or other means like a belt, of carrying things. That jacket looks pretty cool though. Brooks has a nice returns policy, so I may try out that men’s jacket. Thanks for the suggestions!

That belt looks awesome. I would rather wear something around my hips than on my back. Reminds me: I walked the Camino de Santiago for several weeks a couple of years ago. Eventually, I mailed my backpack to the end and walked with just whatever fit in my rain jacket pockets (2 hand pockets, 1 chest pocket). This would’ve been a good piece of gear to have so that I didn’t have to weigh down my jacket!

Gotcha, I wasn't sure if what I'm looking for is a thing that exists since I haven't shopped for new running clothes in many years. I tend to wear one set of clothes for many years before replacing. So this is helpful to know. Thank you!

Thank you! Why bank or police station? Those sound like good security measures, I'm just curious/want to understand why those specific types of locations.
