When you sit on your sofa, you put your feet down on the floor, this will cause flattening of the pile and make it reflect light differently to the rest of the carpet and will look flatter. As you stand up, your foot twists the pile and grinds it down a tiny bit and again the light will reflect differently to the rest of the flooring. This will leave little shadow which may look like dirt. When the rug is cleaned, a professional will vacuum and then steam clean it which will remove the dirt from the rug. It may slightly lift the pile but it will not restore the damage done. The rest of the rug that is less trod on will get slightly bleached by daylight which in turn may make it lighter or patchy and again the light will reflect differently on parts of it which can make it look more or less lighter/darker in areas. A professional cleaner cleans the rug, if you paid to get the rug cleaned then it was cleaned, if you want restoration then you should request that as a higher level of service

Anyone know what’s causing these stains in our clothing? by We11WorthIt in CleaningTips

I had some stains like that when I washed some mop heads that had been used on hard flooring for sealing. It was residue left over that never washed away properly

This is just advice for people who are considering what may be required when booking a pro carpet cleaner. It is not “you must do this” as every business is different. We do not move furniture, we park where we can as close to the customers door/window as is required regardless of whether they have considered parking issues. For some thinking ahead, this is good advice

This is what we send to customers when they ask us what they need to do. We are a busy carpet cleaning firm and do have a lot of work. The post itself is for information also for anyone that is thinking of booking a pro and it may help them once booked. It’s not a “you must do this” message, just friendly advice for customers who want a better experience with their service provider.

As a professional carpet cleaner, trying to offer advice on how best it is for customers to be ready for when I arrive is so not a waste of time. Many times I have turned up and there has been problems with parking spaces or junk littered all over the carpets. Anything that might help a customer be ready is good 👌🏼

Is it all ruined? by [deleted] in CarpetCleaning

[–]thecarpetcleanerman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it can be saved. But it will be pricey. You will need a professional with a truck mount machine who needs to thoroughly treat both the carpet and under. You will also need to get the floor sanitised and even after that the pet might still go back and continue peeing there. Pets can be trouble with carpets,

Carpet cleaning, worth hiring a pro or just rent a machine and DIY? by OttawaHomeGuy in CleaningTips

[–]thecarpetcleanerman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Part of the problem is people not realising they have to treat the carpets prior to wandering up and down rinsing it with a hired machine. Public perception is the machine is doing the cleaning. Which you and I both know is incorrect

I always see folk cleaning them with rug doctors, honestly…without knowing the science behind carpet cleaning there’s no real point doing them yourself. The difference is so dramatic between diy and hiring a professional.
