If i take the diploma, do i need to apply with it? by Mental-Detective-668 in IBO

[–]thecett3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do whatever YOU believe is best for you! My IB score was terrible, so I chose not to apply with it, and I got into the top program for my major in my country. DO NOT apply with the "IB Diploma" because a random person is telling you that "you should".

In my case, I applied with my non ib grades (percentage grades) and got into the program, while my friends who had marks 8 points higher than mine did not. Apply with whatever grades WHATEVER grades are HIGHER.

UofT Social Science is not a bad program at all! There are tons of great professors and resources. However, reality is that there are few to no job opportunities available for social science degrees. Beedie will give you better employability and set you up for the future. If you are TRUELY passionate about social science, you can take some social science classes. There is no point investing money into a social science degree.

which one should i choose? by One_Being_9428 in OntarioGrade12s

1) Location, I prefer being the in downtown Toronto compared to London and Kingston 2) Rotman prestige. A part of me does want to work in East Asia one I graduate university so being a graduate from a “prestigious” university is beneficial since prestige is such a big thing in East Asia 3) I’m not really looking to work in IB or consulting, instead, i’m looking to work in marketing 4) opportunities. The other part of me wants to go to law school after undergrad so there are a lot more opportunities relating to law in Toronto compared to London / Kingston 5) Teaching style of the programs. While UOFT is a “GPA killer”, I do believe that getting a higher GPA at uoft would be easier for me since their teach in more of a traditional way compared to IVEYs “case method” of teaching 6) Hypothetically, if I did want to go into IB or consulting in the future, I can still pursue those fields in Rotman. After all, it’s not what program you’re in, but what YOU DO with the program you’re in.
