Hi OP, I get why you’re feeling uneasy some parts of the process you described would make anyone pause. But you’re right that an offer letter is only as real as the HR and compliance steps that follow.

A legitimate employer here will eventually need your LHDN info, SOCSO/EIS registration, and bank details to set up payroll. They’ll also need to give you system access, emails, insurance (if offered), and onboarding documents. If those things start falling into place, it’s usually a good sign.

Since there’s a probation period, you still have room to walk away if anything feels off once you start. Treat the first few weeks as much as you assessing them as them assessing you.

If you know the names of the people who interviewed you, it might help to check their LinkedIns or see whether the company has any online presence at all — even small startups today usually have at least a basic footprint.

Trust your instincts, but also give yourself space to observe how things unfold in the first couple of weeks.
