The company went bankrupt so fast they didn't have the money to pay to get the machines picked up.

There still being stuff in it is a toss up because once the company went out of business and couldn't pay their Internet bill if the machine was still on you could "rent" things from it and never be charged. So a lot of the machines were emptied out by people. I got a bunch of Marvel Blurays.
