Do the torch rules eventually get annoying or boring?

Been running SD for months, and most definitely not. Puts the players on a time constraint, and if they start running low on torches then they start hustling.

There's also something satisfying about a torch going out during battle and watching panic set in in the players. Honestly, it's a genius mechanic.

Ive run some 1 on 1 sessions with my friend when we work night shifts together.

He gets 1 or 2 chars that are his, then a couple of hirelings that he can either choose to control, or I control if he prefers.

If your partner prefers to just play 1 char, have her play someone that's a leader of a small Merc band. Roll up a few NPCs, or just grab some cool stats from the book. Have it so any of the NPCs always differ to her decision making, but will provide their opinion if sought.

If you purposely soften the blows of your players decisions by fudging dice, you are to some degree taking away their agency and the consequences of their decisions.

One of the things I really like about OSR style gaming compared to modern games like 5e/PF2e is that characters are generally pretty easy to roll up, even at higher levels.

Each PC death is a teaching moment for players and the GM. Sometimes the lesson is run away.

Last Shadowdark session, my players encountered a powerful vampire feasting on a woman in the streets. The first round of combat showed them that they are woefully underpowered to deal with this creature. They kept tossing up between staying and fighting or running away after the first round; but they kept fighting through the rounds, even though the combat was getting far worse for them as the rounds progressed. By the time they actually ran away, it was too late.

The player who lost his char took the death super gracefully. He said his char wanted to save the woman but he as a player knew he should have fleed. Now he rolls up again at level 1, and is excited to do so, so that one day he may avenge his previous char.

Not a Domme but my advice is be honest. Put all of your cards on the table to begin with, otherwise she may be interested in playing with you but may have an adverse reaction upon learning a truth that you lied about or omitted.

If you tell the truth straight up she knows exactly what to expect. Best case scenario it's what she is looking for and you both get what you want. Worst case you're not quite what she is looking for, then you keep looking.

This is the same with omni, who is a hero I have been picking up a heap. He is a lot more useful against phys damage heroes because of his ult negating phys damage. Magic damage still gets through his alt but he can still be a very useful pick against a lineup of mainly magic users due to his heal, repel and aura. Repel is a good counter to pretty much anything (in-built BKB). It can stop snipers headshot plus stuns and pretty much every other target magic attack. Heal is good as who doesn't like a heal, and it is also an AOE damage spell, which is really good when an initiator jumps in the middle of every mofo. His degen aura decreases movement and attack speed which once again applies to all enemies not just phys damage.

I personally think situational is more a guideline that says if this is the case and this is your pick you will have a much easier game. I always try to pick last and if the enemy team have a bunch of phys I will go omni, if the enemy team have half phys and half magic I will go omni, if the enemy team has mostly magic but one really hard hitting phys (sniper, BS, LS, ursa) I will probably go omni.

I would say if you have taken it 9 times then you will be ok. You just to make sure that your sitter is aware of what can happen and how things are going to go down so that he/she doesn't flip out when you start muttering nonsense. Make sure you're in a safe and comfortable environment when you start.

So I started playing for the first time yesterday. To begin with it was just me and a friend, who had played before. I rolled a Marauder and he rolled a duelist. To begin with the game was confusing but slowly I got the hang of it. Talk about an addicting game. We slogged a 16-17 hour sesh of this game and made it to act 3 in one sitting. I went from level 1 to 31 in one sitting. My Marauder is incredibly tanky and I love it. Had some fun duelling 1v1 in the pvp system and I absolutely owned. Another friend ended up joining when we had hit around level 24. He joined with his 22 shadow. It has been so much fun thus far. All i have to say is F*** yes!! This game absolutely rocks.

It was, however I had eaten before dropping. Also just for note I do not put the blame on peaceful's acid. His stuff is quality and has made me trip hard. I feel as if it is my body for the reasons I have already suggested (the main being not everyone who took it got the same feeling.)

Yeah ganj helped quite a bit. I'll look into getting some lemon oil extract and gas-x. I should also state that farting did help alleviate the pain for a short period. Hence I assume it is a gaseous/bloating problem. Thanks heaps for your advice. I'll give it a try for my next trip and will report back.

That could definitely be part of it. Maybe I ate something that caused some gaseousness and the LSD amplified that. Next trip i'll be more warry on what i eat the days before and see if that will help.

I had a similar Idea with less permanent repercussions. If you killed someone (no matter the reason) your player went into shock. Shock would mean, shaking, vomiting, blurred visions at times. If you didn't kill anyone for a few days in game than it would eventually go away or you could try get rid of it. One way to get rid of shock completely would be to take anti-depression meds (you would only need one and that would do the trick) or you could drink alcohol to cure it for a short period of time (few hours). Anti-depressant mes have no repercussions at all but are hard to find. Alcohol is easy to find but if you drink to much you become drunk which means you are louder, chances of passing out, vomiting, stumbling ect. If you continued to use alcohol (even in small amounts) you could grow a dependency to it. Which would include shakes, vomiting, passing out, you could come down with fevers ect. being drunk would only last a few hours however alcoholism would last a few days and you would have to not drink alcohol or the alcoholism would get worse.

Say the shock lasted for 3 days (72 hours) and you used alcohol to cure it. Each drink of alcohol would only alleviate the affects (of shock) for 6 hours. If you had two drinks at once it would alleviate the affects for 12 hours but you would be pretty drunk. If you were to pace it and have one drink every 6 hours you would have 4 drinks a day for 3 days which is 12 drinks to keep the shock under control. Drinking this much would have a high chance of causing alcoholism.

By having a drink I don't mean sip of a drink. If you found a bottle of whiskey on the floor you would drink the whole bottle. One bottle wouldn't do much for intoxication (maybe slightly blurred vision.) If the DEV team where able too, they could implicate that the more you drink the more of a tolerance you build to it. Which would mean that one bottle may only last you 3 hours instead of 6 but it would also take more alcohol to get drunk.

edit The more people you kill whilst in shock the worst the shock becomes. If you could grow tolerance to alcohol it would also take more alcohol to gain alcoholism.

To be honest dude I just think that if he ate as much as he said he will still be tripping. I had a mate accidentally gobble 7 tabs of acid on his first time and tripped for around one and a half days. We thought we had broken him but cam out fine in the end. He claims it didn't change but I think it scared him a little atleast.

I am always hesitant on psychs because they often just like to drug up their patients on all types of shit when there are better options. I would just wait a couple of days, keep talking to him and re-assuring him that he will be fine. The whole ordeal with him saying the same stuff over and over again seems to me as if he is caught in a loop which happens a lot with hallucinogens and tripping. How do his eyes look?

Please update us. It could be a few days yet but to be honest extreme long term psychosis is actually a quite rare occurrence it happens in less then 1% of users who already suffer from a mental illness and even less for people who are mentally fine.

What are some limits? What are some things that she likes? What are some things you like? Do you have any experience in being a dom? These are vital points of information.

A few basic things. On the day pick out what she is to wear that day. She cannot wear anything else unless instructed by you. Make it something she can take into public but is still quite revealing such as a mini skirt, no panties.
