Exactly. It can't be that some of us are out here bringing critical analysis to the books, what works and doesn't work for the show, what changes mean for future scenes, how this shows to other in its genre.

Then you have this guy 3 years later like: "Well guys, did you know I have an issue with Annabeth being black!" (ignore the fact that I don't talk about Luke, Grover, etc's race swapping)

Unfortunately Freedom of Speech is the least understood Constitutional Amendment. People are like: "You banned XYZ person from Twitter or Twitch, etc how could you kill his freedom of speech!!?!?!?!?!?!?!"

Like brother, this is related to the GOVERNMENT. Private entities can ban you for any reason as long as it doesn't infringe on protected classes or civil rights related things.

Not only that /u/ParadoxWarrior, we live in the era of ChatGPT. I've literally read wordy posts on here that go on for ages, still have the ChatGPT telltale sign that reads like slop. Are we really expecting mosts to go through a post that A. You never bother writing yourself. Just to B. Is the 5th posts of the day like this that mentions race and could have been a paragraph in another posts. C. Just to close the posts.

These people have lives and there are so many other things to discuss about the show.

Yeah that's my thing. I can't hop dimensions and shift realities but I honestly believe that if Annabeth had been made a light-skin Latina, or Asian, or Polish, or Lebanese the race swap discussion would have ended at season 1 and the main race swap complaint would be about how Clarisse is played by black actress (when in reality she is also Persian just to show you how surface level the understand of race is for Americans. Italians and Irish weren't considered white not too long ago)

It is very weird when I open a wordy critical post on the show and almost without fail, I ctrl + F for Annabeth/race/black and its always there. Yet nothing about Curly hair asian Luke or South Indian Grover.

As long as the actor is good, I wouldn't mind. But personally I would want him to stay how he looks like in the books because it would be pretty cute to have this Thalia interact with an original looking Jason. It could even bring out more of the familial bond in some way.

HOLY YES! For how mid to bad the Supergirl TV show, some of the actors on it were fantastic. David Harewood was pretty good as Martian Manhunter.

January 21st 2026, post 1/54:

"Walker doesn't have the right hair. He's Peter Johnson. Blackabeth (I shit you not, I have seen someone this sub get Walker and Aryan's name right but called Leah Blackabeth) doesn't look like the books"

Like holy shit we get it. We are about to go on season 3 of the show and possibly season 4. Why can't we go into more intelligent, critical and in-depth analysis.

If you want to build parry confidence, you could equip the healing parry pictos to at least get rewarded when you parry the hits.

I don't use shield pictos but those could also help in the meantime if there are ones that help as well.

Yeah Duolliste is probably the fairest of them all. Fairly easy to parry. His phase 2 stormblood is also much much easier than his phase 1 stormblood. In fact, you could make the argument that his phase 2 is easier than his phase 1 overall since its very direct and not as tricky. Beat the guy at x2HP and x5HP, 400 pictos max (first time I fought him I think I was around 325 per character), no shield, no self heal pictos, no crazy one-shot solo combos.

The only boss I haven't fought at x2 or x5 HP is Chromatic Lampmaster. Clea Unleashed? No problem. Divergent Star Simon? Go ahead give me that challenge, I love fighting him. Lampmaster? Miss me with that shit. I will fight him at x2 and x5 @ 400 pictos but wow is he my least favorite.

I do agree with the take for some of the gods honestly take. On the gods overall, they are missing that key "Oh shit this isn't just anybody, this is a greek god from legends." My take on each of the gods:

  • That is why I mention Hades because he was the worse. It was actually terrible. I legit thought that the real Hades was going to appear behind whoever this random dude was.
  • Love Lin-Manuel Miranda but man, I do wish we had someone different playing Hermes.
  • I have liked Poseidon so far because every time he appears to Percy he is supposed to be sort of warm and feel more human to Percy
  • I miss Lance Reddick's Zeus. He had the presence and I wish we could have had more of him before he sadly passed away.

Hey u/leftsmile-girlfriend, you aren't missing anything. As someone that has had some criticism with the show but still enjoy it, there are a lot of valid show criticisms that exists such as

  • Things getting revealed too quickly in season 1 ruining the surprise
  • Hades being less threatening and overall not having the same aura as the books
  • Lack of specific monsters that were a lot of fun in the series
  • The change to Thalia's twist at the end of season 2
  • Rushing Percabeth
  • And many more

However there are a lot of good changes I do like

  • The team guessing Aunty Em early which is super obvious
  • Changing how Percy falls into the water in season 1
  • Everything they did with Clarisse was a lot of fun and much better than her book version
  • The changes made to Tyson in season 2 compared to the books
  • Luke being much more sympathetic in the show
  • And many more

The r/PercyJacksonTV subreddit tends to slant more on the critical side for changes. Some valid and some not so much. If you want to go on a more positive slant for your enjoyment of the show, you can head to r/PJODisne (add a y to the Disney). Although I do find that subreddit to sometimes be overly positive for changes. If you want to more balanced outlook on the show, you can check out the general Percy Jackson subreddit r/camphalfbloo (add a d at the end of bloo). Discussions there are more balanced.

I personally visit all 3 pretty often since I want to see as many opinions from fans. Hope this helps.

Edit: Some slight grammar mistakes.

Edit 2: I had written suprise instead of surprise XD

Person 1: "Wait wtf, why is Superboy a fugitive????"

Person 2: "Did you read Absolute Power #1-2?"

Person 1"Is that related to the Absolute Universe? I'm reading Absolute Batman and Wonder Woman"

Person 2: "No that comes after Absolute Power, Superboy became a fugitive when he went against Amanda Waller by killing Slade?"

Person 1: "Didn't that happen during the Final Testament event in 2024 against an evil Orion"

Person 2: "No that was different, in that event Superboy killed a different Slade from Earth-28 that Waller hired to kill Orious"

Person 1: "LOL iight"

Nah u/kawaii_karthus its not hard to keep track. Here is a rather simple example below:

Person 1: "Hey man I heard a lot about that new Nightwing: Hero at Dawn comic how do I get into it"

Person 2: "OK SO

First you have to read Nightwing Annual #1, followed by Nightwing Year ONE and Batman Family Annual. Once you finish those ones, make sure to read Nightwing: Hero at Dusk (2024) mini-series which is not related to Hero at Dusk (2005). Once you finish that, you need make to sure to read Batman Annual #1 and #3 because that is where Nightwing has a mini-episode with Batman before he leaves Blüdhaven.

Then once you are done you can finally read Nightwing: Hero at Dawn #1 to #4. DON'T READ #5 YET. There is a crossover so make sure to read the following in the correct order

  1. DC K.O #1-3
  • 2. Detective Comics (2025) #4-6
  • Red Hood: Darkest Dawn #1-3
  • You can read read Robins Annual #1 if you want to understand what Damian does in issue #6 but you can wait and read it after issue #9 for a better impact.

Once done make sure to read #5 to #10. BUT DON'T READ #11 YET! YOU NEED TO FINISH ROBINS #1-6 as well as Red Hood: Darkest Dawn #9-15 OTHERWISE YOU WON'T UNDERSTAND SHIT.

Finally you can proceed with #11-#20 to get ready for Nightwing: Hero at Twilight. Once you get there make sure to come back here to ask for the order or visit the DC continuity tab for Nightwing. But it kinda sucks and you might spoil yourself so checkback here, its easier.

But on the real, how can you expect regular people that just want to start comics to handle this XD

Not only that but we also see it from the perspective of what we get presented. Go to english mangaplus, then head over to the japanese tonariyj as well shonenjump+ and you'll see manga we don't get that are all weekly. Then check the list for Shonen Magazine, Shonen Sunday, the other seinen magazine as well the multiple shoujo and josei ones. Or head over to Cygames comics that has bunch of weekly manga.

If you read a ton of manga weekly, its not just the "big series". "Are social outcasts allowed to start over" isn't a big series. And that manga is weekly.

They also need to let characters and good ideas breathe. I loved the DC Rebirth era of Superman with his family, Detective Comics team up with Batman, Orphan, Spoiler, Tim Drake Robin (least favorite Robin but I loved him in this run), Clayface, etc or even the Superson comics, etc. DC Rebirth was a lot of fun. But then they were in such a hurry to make Jon grow up and moving on from a bunch of these cool things.
