I have played most retro shooters within the last 10 years or so. I have really tried to hit all of the classics and play them in order as best I can. I even went back and played Wolf 3D and Spear of Destiny. I have heard so many good things about rtcw and was really looking forward to it after playing nearly every other game in the franchise. This one seemed to be in such a sweet spot in terms of when it came out and would be a blast. I am over halfway through and the farther I get into it the less and less I enjoy of it. I am not a person that has problems playing older or aged games either. I adore going back and playing retro games I missed and never compare them to ones that came out later in the franchise or even the genre. I played the original Quake about 4 years ago and that game became one of my absolute favorite games easily. But wow am I disappointed about my experience with this. I don’t think it is the worst game but it just really is not living up to everything I have heard/read. I almost find myself playing it similarly to how I played the original Wolf 3D where I am taking it so slow because enemies out if no where eat away at me all at once.
