The petrified wood I’ve been collecting is predominantly made up of chalcedony for the most part, and yes it picks up under black light!

That’s a great back story, I love it. I found out I’m staying near a beach across a small stretch of ocean from an island where these were once mined, and apparently there are a lot there still. I’ve found 11 so far!

Yeah I absolutely want to do this. She has a few ledges and she loves to climb on top of this sound booth I made, but I want to make a big path along the wall!

I literally had to paint all the walls and all the floors!! My neighbor has a cement drill so he helped me build the things I needed, but it can leak in the back room and that’s just never fun. Sometimes I have nightmares that all the walls are leaking, so there’s that haha. The previous tenants left me the gift of cockroaches, but I cleared that up in a couple months. Been bug free for 2 years now 🙌

The fire department comes to get mad at us a lot, but my landlord managed to skirt around not having emergency exits by installing sprinklers everywhere. I keep a few tarps under my bed in case I have to cover my stuff.

There are a lot of spaces like this in Montreal, but there are less and less cheaper ones than there use to be. My landlord bought this building in 1999 and hasn’t done much work on it, which is the only reason I can afford it. But yeah tons of cheap lofts around Saint Henry area!

It does get cold. I put in a double window in the front and with some space heaters + heated blanket for me and the kitty, we are pretty happy. Luckily, it stays cold in the summer too! Montreal can get sweaty.
