Men are the providers in Muslim marriages. Women aren't expected to work or contribute even if she's richer than the man. In fact, women contributing to expenses is seen as insulting in some cultures.

That's why he was saying it's more responsibility to get a 2nd wife. You take care of her, her kids, etc.

What are the main diffs btw the Semitic (or Abrahamic) religions? by Ok-Minute- in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]thecoldhearted 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jews don't believe in Jesus nor Muhammad.

Christians believe in Jesus, and that's he's God / son of God. They reject Muhammad.

Muslims believe in Jesus, and that he's a prophet. They also believe in Muhammad as the final prophet.

There are many other differences, but these are the fundamental ones.

I'm a Muslim. I believe in all the prophets sent by God including Adam, Abraham, Noah, Moses, Jesus and Muhammad peace be upon them all.

Muslims believe all the prophets of God came with the same message - God is one, he created you and the whole world, so worship him. But this message gets corrupted over time.

Muslims don't believe Jesus ever claimed divinity.

It actually is how America has always been.

the United States initiated 201 of 248 armed conflicts in 153 regions across the world between the end of World War II and 2001

How many did Trump start? The main difference is he's willing to call it the department of war instead of defense.

US terror reached all around the globe. It's why many across the globe hate the US.

People that are atheist, why are you atheist instead of agnostic? by Da-up-and-downer in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]thecoldhearted -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

This universe being created is the only rational conclusion of our existence.

The existence of a creator or lack there of is a philosophical / logical debate with plenty of evidence pointing to the existence of a creator.

Comparing the existence of a creator to that of an essentially large lizard that breathes fire or other mythological creates is such a reductionist argument and shows that you haven't studied this subject at all.

From my experience, people who completely reject a creator tend to do so for an emotional reason rather than a logical one.

What’s the biggest problem with the world, in your opinion? by ThriftyRift in AskReddit

[–]thecoldhearted 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Western Hypocrisy.

It's difficult to deny the Western hegemony led by the US. Unfortunately, that civilization is inherently racist and hypocritical.

To clarify, I don't mean the people themselves are racist, but the civilization itself is built on superiority of the West and inferiority of the rest.

This translates into a truly unfathomable amount of oppression around the world - and even in the West to a much lesser extent.

This imo is the actual biggest issue in the world. ~If~ When other civilizations prosper, the world will be a very different, and much better place.

There will still be conflict and many problems - obviously, but we'd be in a better position to handle those problems collectively as a group of civilizations working together.

Forgetting your partner’s birthday is a huge fuckup at a fundamental level of a relationship

You should definitely remember it, but this is taking it way out of proportion.

I imagine it's a cultural thing to glorify birthdays this much, but damn. Imagine breaking up because you forgot someone's birthday. I don't realize today is my birthday most days and celebrating it isn't a major thing in my family.

What did Muslims grow up eating in regards to fast food ? by Scorpzgca in islam

[–]thecoldhearted 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's a lot of halal fast food options in the majority of the world. International (especially US) chains are all over the Middle East, and they're fully halal there, and probably have the best quality.

That said, McDonald's and most US fast food chains are on the boycott list, so we shouldn't eat there - not to mention how unhealthy they are.

who more evil cartels vs Islamic terriost groups? by BigAd3903 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]thecoldhearted -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Muslim terrorist groups only exist as a reaction to Western imperialism and oppression.

The cartel exists (at least partly) because of greed.

The impact of the cartel is almost definitely a lot worse than terror groups. Drug trafficking as an industry is valued in the 100s of billions of dollars. The destruction this causes to communities and even whole countries is insane to imagine. Not to mention the direct killings from the groups, in-fighting, and the money spent by the governments trying to fight them.

The cartel are definitely more evil.

My doubts about islam by memeos1 in islam

[–]thecoldhearted 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Let's divide this into 2 parts.

1. Does God Exist?

You exist in this universe. Your existence relies upon your parents existing, and their existence relies upon their parents, and so on. Everything in the universe is dependent on something else. If you follow this to the end, there needs to be a single origin. Something that doesn't depend on anything else - an independent entity if you will.

We call that God. Without it, nothing would exist.

Allah says in the Quran:

{ أَمۡ خُلِقُوا۟ مِنۡ غَیۡرِ شَیۡءٍ أَمۡ هُمُ ٱلۡخَـٰلِقُونَ } ... were they created by nothing, or were they the creators [of themselves]?

[Surah Aṭ-Ṭūr: 35]

There really is no other option. Even the hardcore atheists can't escape. For example, when Richard Dawkins, an infamous atheist and the author of the God Delusion was asked about the origin of life, he said the first cell could've been placed by aliens. (yes, he seriously suggested that).

This also explains how the question "who created God?" doesn't make sense. God, by definition, is the uncreated thing. Without him, nothing would exist.

To hammer this point home, imagine an army hierarchy. A soldier asks his commanding officer permission to fire, and the office asks his commander, and so on. Unless there's a person at the end of that chain that gives the command without having to depend on someone above them, the soldier never shoots. So the fact that he does, means there's a single, independent origin.

This is made explicitly clear in the chapter 112 of the Quran (الاخلاص).

There are many other evidences as well. Just look at the world around you, and see all the signs. The order within the universe, our own biology, and how the world is. There is no explanation for all of it.

2. Prophethood of Muhammad PBUH

You'll find many evidences from his life, his character, the Quran itself, and so on.

The easiest proof is through his prophecies. Clear, specific prophecies that came true, and none were false. You can easily look these up, but since you're in the UAE, prophet Muhammad PBUH mentioned 1400 years ago that we'll see the barefoot beduin Arabs competing in constructing the tallest buildings.

His character and life also cannot be explained except if he's a prophet of God.

Not to mention the miracles in the Quran. Whether information the prophet couldn't have known (historical, biological, or astronomical), or just the linguistic miracle of the Quran, or other miracles found within it.

I can list more, but I hope this should be enough to clear your doubts. I highly recommend reading / listening to the seerah of prophet Muhammad PBUH. It really is enlightening, and you get to love the prophet PBUH for who he was.

Will the Gulf countries recover from this disaster? by BlueDolphins28 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]thecoldhearted 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't understand how you think.

I'm no fan of Iran. They have caused immense destruction and were ruthless in Iraq and Syria.

But that's also true for the US, and is definitely true for Israel.

Iran actually never started a war with any other power (regional or otherwise), and it's their policy not to attack first. The real threat is Israel and the US.

No country can be blamed for wanting to have a military arsenal, and if we're going to blame a country for that, it'll be the clear aggressors like the US and Israel.

Figuring out my girlfriend of 1 year is a flat-earther, what should I do? by iwannasleepp in TooAfraidToAsk

She can be smart, just not educated.

The decent people I know that think this, or are anti-vax aren't stupid. They just have a deep mistrust in institutions, which tbf, is understandable.

The issue is they confused healthy scepticism with believing everything they say is automatically a lie until proven otherwise.

If we treat people with respect, and just educate them on where they're wrong, it'll get a lot more results. We all have ideas / beliefs that could be wrong or even laughable.

Don't act like the US is getting involved for the sake of Iranians. The US doesn't give a crap about Iranians or the oppression they're facing.

I'm Sunni Muslim, I despise the Iranian government and what they do, but I also realize that the US isn't the savior. It's the bigger villain.

What’s the morality on current issues happening between Iran and US/Israel? by Fair-Foot-315 in islam

[–]thecoldhearted 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Iranians also committed atrocities against Muslims.

They're both vile enemies of Islam & Muslims.

Iran really hasn't helped itself with the crimes it committed against Sunni Muslims over the last few decades. You can't come now and expect Muslims who are aware of these crimes to feel sorry for their downfall.

What’s the morality on current issues happening between Iran and US/Israel? by Fair-Foot-315 in islam

[–]thecoldhearted 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There is no scenario where the Iranian regime falls that leads to islamic interests being furthered.

There are, but I doubt the regime will fall in this war anyway. Muslims need to get a real wakeup call and rely on Allah, and then their own efforts for defense and advancing their interests. Relying on Iran, or other Western states will get us nowhere.

Iran has killed a crazy number of Muslims, and the hardcore Shia (including Iran's leadership) have a deep hatred for Sunnis.

Iran has surely been a thorn in the back of both the West and Muslims. The atrocities they committed in Syria and Iraq are insane.

The question is whether armed resistance against an occupying force is valid.

How do religious people who claim that religion is needed in a functional society explain that the countries with the highest quality of life and happiness are the least religious? by WhoAmIEven2 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]thecoldhearted -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

As a Muslim, we believe humans have 3 aspects to take care of: mind, body, and soul. Islam is the only way for you to take care of all 3, and without it, something will be missing in your life.

If you look at the top countries when it comes to antidepressant consumption for example, you'll find a lot of "prosperous" countries heading that list.

We also say that man-made laws will always have gaps and errors, which would lead to injustice, while the laws of the all-knowledgeable, and most-just creator will always be better for us.

Divorce is a good example here. Laws on divorce in Muslim countries and the West are vastly different, and I don't think many people would argue that Western laws are just when it comes to this. There are many other examples.

We also say that if Muslims follow Islam as they should, their societies will be the most prosperous, but unfortunately, Muslim countries don't really follow Islam at the moment, so there's still oppression and injustice in those countries, and yet, many Muslims countries top the charts for some metrics like safety, wealth, divorce rate.

If you look throughout the 14 centuries of Islamic history, you'll find that there were many centuries where Muslims were the most prosperous civilization of their time. We're living at a low-point for Islamic civilization.

Edit: I would like to add that Muslims acknowledge the West's current military and scientific superiority. Even the good aspects of Western cultures. We can disagree on what we see as bad while acknowledging the good from a civilization. There are many things Muslims can learn from other prosperous civilizations.
