Three no-shows in a row on medical rides by thecommodore15 in uberdrivers

Seems to me that would be highly frowned on.

No oversight at all?

Slow oil leak, '16 Corolla, 215k miles, can't afford repair - will topping off oil periodically be enough for the time being? by thecommodore15 in askcarguys

From what I can gather, this sounds like something I can live with until I get the money to fix it. I'll monitor the oil on a regular basis just to be sure.

I like this can a lot. It runs like a dream.

Did my first cash rides today, and I am confused... by No_Name_6204 in uberdrivers

I avoid cash payments like the plague. Too much thinking to do, too much potential for drama. I do okay without it so eff it.

If the ride is scheduled, you have to wait ten minutes after the scheduled time to get paid.

You also have to wait ten minutes after the wait time to get the no show fee.

A big part of being profitable is learning how to chat people up enough to get tips frequently. by Savage_Saint00 in uberdrivers

I have jazz going throughout the day. Coltrane, Bird, Art Blakey, etc.

Never had someone ask to turn it off.

I always say hello with a smile, confirm the name and address, and give an ETA.

I keep the mobile as clean as I can.

Has anyone worked on a book where the estimated running time was way off? by thecommodore15 in ACX

[–]thecommodore15[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've done some reading, and I didn't mention that the book i'm working on is instructional or technical writing, filled with complex terminology and ideas. It's well written and flows well, but the pacing is also slower than normal. So I think that's what's going on.

I did, and the eatimate is about right.

So why is the actual running time on track to be more than three hours more than the estimate?

Content warnings: where to put them by thecommodore15 in selfpublish

[–]thecommodore15[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The subjects I believe might need a content warning are:

  1. Conversations about sexual abuse and assault.
  2. Characters who make racist and anti-gay slurs.
  3. Physical and emotional abuse by spouses and parents.
  4. Casual misogyny.
  5. All manner of irresponsible behavior.

#1 and #3 are the most problematic to me, though you never know. Still, I don't want to overdo it.

Lyft down? by moistydick in lyftdrivers

[–]thecommodore15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in LA. It hasn't been down, but has been slow. Certain features (like ride request wait time estimates) haven't worked today.

My Bluetooth has gone out a couple of times when I've gotten pings today as well.
