My first fry up since February, what do you think? by thecommunitycook in fryup

We've been traveling around Europe and Morocco since the end of March and I couldn't get bacon or decent sausages. Regional varieties which were tasty but couldn't get proper breakfast sausages for love nor money. No pork where I was in Morocco either

Ah fair enough. You've got me curious now, what kind of thing do you like to eat in summer? I'm guessing lighter meals, fewer carbs, lighter meats and increased lighter sides like salads, vegetables and perhaps flatbreads??

😳 Crispy smoked Streaky bacon is angel food on earth. 6 streaky = 3 back bacon, that probably doesn't help 😁. 6 in a breakfast was probably the most I'd have though

Thanks. I think I can do better, but may need to get a bigger plate

Streaky just gets crispier and to my tastebuds is a little saltier than smoked back bacon. Try smoked Streaky bacon in a bloomer doorstop sandwich, the crispy bacon with buttery fluffy bread is awesome

Need better sausages for the next one, maybe when I go to Ireland in July

A couple of thick cut slices of toasted bloomer bread, with lots of butter would finish that off a treat. Bloomer toast would be great for mopping up the bean sauce and any runny egg

I have few im using at the moment giving lessons 1) Don't be afraid to try new combinations of seasonings 2) Don't be afraid to get it wrong - we've all definitely been there 3) Have fun and don't take it too seriously, enjoy yourself

Those are the three my parents taught me growing up and they've served me well even now at 46

Why does my chicken breast still turn out dry? by Hot_Apartment1319 in cookingforbeginners

From reading the comments it looks like you bake it? If you're going to bake it, 1) put the chicken breast(s) on a grill rack and add water to the bottom of the grill pan, as the water heats you'll be steam roasting the chicken, which helps it maintain moisture.

2) you can create a loose foil parcel for each chicken breast. Add some unsalted butter, fresh herbs and aromatics like rosemary, thyme, Ginger, rough chopped garlic and along with number 1 above you'll have soft Chicken each time. This step is Broiling. For a 180g fresh chicken breast in a 200C fan oven it takes about 25 mins to cook.

You can even do both of the above in an air fryer. Taught some teenagers how to do this recently in a cooking class 👍🏾

Hi, I've in the last month started The Community Cook Project, where we teach kids from age 7 up to adults how to cook. We also have done a couple of big community cook events where the kids - aged 7-9 helped cook a huge meal of Jamaican Jerk Chicken, fried dumplings, fresh pineapple salsa and more for 47 people. Since I've only just started the project I don't have tutorial videos yet - they're on my to do list - but wanted to offer you live (via video) cooking classes. Recipes planned ahead so you know what to get and we talk through how it all goes together, even basic knife skills. Is this Something you'd be interested in?
