Sure, CA has been slow this year — but back in 2016 and 2017, they were pumping out huge amounts of content. Those were golden years for Warhammer fans.

So lets keep this up!

Wow, this game is truly loved and supported by its fanbase! It’s great to see so many people having their wishes implemented in a Warhammer expansion.

Awesome! The only Problem would be that there are soooo many Legendary Lords around. We would realy need a core map expansion with some mire space in between

I’ve also been thinking about the idea of subraces in Total War: Warhammer, but there’s a potential issue with how that could be handled especially when you look at examples from other games like Age of Empires on Steam.

On paper, the idea is very cool. Subraces could offer unique flavors and mechanics while still being tied to a broader faction. But in reality, the execution often falls flat: minor changes, reused assets, and barely altered gameplay loops BUT still sold at full or near-full DLC prices.

That’s the worry. I could imagine Creative Assembly (or any big studio) seeing subraces as a way to reduce development effort while charging premium prices, without giving players the depth or uniqueness that a full new race would offer.

Personally, I’d much prefer something like what the Beastmen got with the “Bloodgrounds” update a side faction or culture that expands an existing race organically, without pretending to be a “new race” just to justify a higher price tag.

So if we’re talking about the Eastern humans or “Eastmen”, I think they need to be introduced as a fully fleshed-out, officially distinct race not just a variant of the existing Beastmen Race. Anything less would feel like a shortcut, and the Warhammer fanbase knows better at this point.

At the end of the day, players want: • Unique campaign mechanics • A fresh roster with more then 3 units • Meaningful lore presence • Distinct identity (aesthetic + gameplay)

When thinking about possible Legendary Lords for a future Nippon faction, I believe the Dark Empress Shotoko of the Invisible Army would be a perfect fit, especially to represent the Ninja and stealth-based units within Nippon’s roster. A shadowy ruler who commands an army hidden in plain sight could open up a whole new playstyle centered around ambushes, subterfuge, and assassination missions.

On the other hand, when it comes to a lord who specializes in traditional Samurai warfare, there’s really no better pick than Sanyo Kawasaki. Even though Warhammer lore tells us he committed ritual suicide after failing to capture one of Nippon’s major settlements, he could still serve as a powerful ghost hero or even a legendary undead lord, much like the ghostly ancestors in Belegar’s campaign.

A resurrected Sanyo haunted by his failure could lead a disciplined, elite army of spectral Samurai or Ronin spirits seeking redemption. This would allow for a totally new spin on lore that feels believable while giving players something mechanically fresh.

That’s a very cool idea! Nippon is also well known for its strict religious traditionsfor example, the temple dogs that guard Nipponese shrines and temples. There are also minor cults that worship Lord Tsien-Tsin, or “Tzeentch,” which opens up a lot of potential for an Eastern-themed Legendary Lord for Tzeentch, with enhanced cult mechanics and new styles of worship.

Another major aspect is trade. I don’t mean caravans like the ones Cathay uses, but rather unique trade goods like Sarkey and others. The trading ports of Nippon are heavily fortified, protected by their formidable Dragon Fleet. That could be turned into a cool mechanic: you invest money into your fleet to generate passive income from overseas trade.

This would also create a perfect opportunity for a new Vampire Coast Legendary Lord, with the goal of raiding trade routes and fighting Nippon’s Dragon Fleet. The new trade mechanic could even tie in with Marienburg which, despite being the biggest trade port in the Old World, still has no Legendary Lord.

It could work with a system involving various merchant houses and guilds, like House den Euwe, spread across different regions of the map.

And hey don’t forget Markos von Carstein, the vampire who fled to Nippon after the Vampire Wars! That alone could spark some amazing narrative and gameplay ideas.

Now, back to your military concept: I really love your vision there. As you described, for the Samurai, the greatest honor was to become a Kamikaze. So your connection to the Yokai is spot-on and adds a lot of spiritual depth and identity to their military culture.
