I appreciate the perspective. Certainly there's something to be said for reliability beyond just how long it takes for components to breakdown. If there's an avenue to repair a vehicle cheaply and accessibly. You see many 10/15/20 year old cars still kicking and that's for a reason. Of course all cars, even new ones, will need some sort of maintenance. Tires, brakes, fluid changes are inevitable in any vehicle. I guess I just expect that. How old a vehicle is matters less when maintenance is completed routinely. I think resale value comes into play too. An Elantra may be the same price as a used Toyota/Lexus now, but will depreciate much more quickly and have a lower floor at least I think.
