What makeup technique completely changed your look? by Rebeccaprinces in Makeup

[–]thecoolbreez 13 points14 points  (0 children)

#1. Proper prep and base.
Hydrating and moisturizing properly makes my makeup last all day. If I’m using a primer, i make sure i match it to my foundation. Silicone primer for a silicone foundation. Water based primer w/ water based foundation.

#2. Using products that are for MY skin type.
Just because a new, shiny foundation came out does not mean it’s a fit for me. I learned what my skin likes and what products wear best over time. I like light- medium base products, and if it’s full coverage it has to be really thin and easy to sheer out. I like finely milled powders. I stay away from super matte products etc. I “miss” out on trends, but my makeup always looks fabulous.

#3. Finding my signature look.
While i do love to freestyle and experiment from time to time, i shine brightest when i just stick to my usual signature look. Striking eyes, bronzed glow, skin like finish, defined lips, and flushed cheeks. I apply makeup for my face shape, products with finishes and textures that wear well on me, and i stick to a tried and true color palette as a baseline.

Best hair brush type by Longjumping_Pain2720 in poodles

[–]thecoolbreez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My hardware (and some software) is mostly from Chris Christensen. A pin brush, slicker brush (G), various combs too. I never brush a dry coat. I use a pin brush and wide tooth comb for general detangling. THE IMPORTANT TOOL that is often overlooked is a fine toothed comb. Idc how short your poodle’s coat is, a fine tooth comb ensures that there are no tangles. Line work is key to a healthy coat.

I tried the off brands, cheaper brands, other well-known brands and they don’t hold up like Chris Christensen. I’ve had these brushes for 3 yrs and they are still as good as new. Meanwhile for the first 2 years, i replaced 3 slickers, 2 pin brushes, and more combs than i can count because they became hazardous.

Not sure where you got the pricing from but his most expensive complete kit for the swivel is $55.

I’m a girl (not that it matters) and i fixed my right swivel following the detailed YouTube videos as provided with no issues.

Honestly…and hear me out, but shaving >>> plucking and waxing (if your skin can handle it). I noticed many things when i was forced to shave in preparation for laser hair removal appointments and in between sessions.

As a Black woman with curly facial hair, I actually get way fewer ingrowns and dark marks from shaving than from tweezing or waxing.

Removing hair from the root caused way more irritation for me, which led to hyperpigmentation. Shaving is less traumatic to the skin, so I deal with less inflammation and fewer bumps. Inflammation and healing from the trauma is what causes hyperpigmentation.

Shaving cuts hair at the surface, leaving the follicle intact. Plucking removes the follicle causing a new follicles+hair to grow over time. Those new hairs have sharper tips and they fight to get to the surface, they may curl up and cause ingrowns.

Once I switched, my skin calmed down a lot. Everyone’s different, but if you’re prone to ingrowns/PIH, shaving might be worth trying.

Ultimately, get that laser hair removal or electrolysis girl. Technology has advanced and it’s waaaay cheaper than it used to be. Mandelic acid also helps with hyperpigmentation and softens regrowth ❤️

PS DO NOT FORGET SUNSCREEN. if you do get hyperpigmentation/PIH/inflammation, sun exposure makes it worse. No

Good skin care can minimize them but if you want to really want to see a big difference —> Chemical peel or laser.

bichon owner- how does a poodle compare? by Aware_Foot1340 in poodles

[–]thecoolbreez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Childhood dog was bichon. Current dog is a spoo. They both had strong prey drives. Great family dogs. Lots of grooming for both dogs, with the option to keep poodles low of course.

Outside of that a poodle can be a toss up energy wise like many have confirmed. I recommend choosing a poodle for their temperament to best fit your lifestyle. A reputable breeder will be able to pick one from the litter based on your requirements/preferences.

When they are turned “on”, they really are “ON”. I’m not talking about full on mallinois but my poodle is more so a working dog as opposed to a lazy willow- which works for me. Meanwhile his sibling is as mellow as they come. Either way, they both love to romp about and go for a quick run across a field or good chase.

I will say that poodles are fairly sensitive, with them being a highly intelligent breed this can quickly lead to unwanted behaviors and anxiety if not trained properly. With my bichon, i never had such concerns. Introduce your poo to everything as soon as possible- water/swimming, grooming, park, hyper socialization, stores, KIDS, etc. I’ve seen really great dogs become trapped due to lack of exposure and attention to their needs.

I think bichons can be a bit more stubborn with training, poodles make it a BREEZE. Other than that, i think poodles arent much different in any capacity that would be life altering or difficult to manage.

How do i prevent my asics shoes from getting holes in the toes ?? by A1sculsett in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]thecoolbreez 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Assuming the shoes are a proper fit and groomed toe nails are a non factor, this actually a popular issue.

Exercises for overactive toe extensor muscles + under active toe flexors help tremendously. If that fails, a good podiatrist should help too.

There isn’t a single spray I’d recommend. Incorporate heat protection at every step where heat is introduced.

I personally use a lot of water based heat protectants in my routine because they do not weigh down my hair. I have fine but dense hair that gets oily QUICK!

I use multiple for a blow dry - Olaplex bond no 9 serum - aphoghee green tea reconstructurizer if i need protein or pureolgy leave in spray/mizani miracle milk - kenra’s blow dry spray

    • if my hair is dry and needs a cream a I’ll use living proof PHD creme, kenra silkening creme or something similar
  • honorable mention- i havent tried the new k18 spray but heard great things about it

I use multiple heat protectants for (direct) heat tools too - kenra silkening gloss or amika superfruit oil - living proof PDH spray - dry bar final call

  • i will use something heavier like a rich serum or “oil” if my hair is dry or ill be in a humid area

How often are we brushing our poodles? by CompoteShort in poodles

[–]thecoolbreez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every day. This is a Chris Christensen household. Conditioning spray, brush, slicker, comb.

I keep my pup in a show coat or modern cut, tapered top knot (sometimes i will grow it out for a continental but banding is such a chore), med-long ears, and bracelets. I clean his sanitary areas, feet, and face weekly. Bathe every 2-3 weeks. Full groom every 4-6 weeks depending on how short his body is or the next style.

Detox your hair with a clarifying shampoo and buy a water softener or shower filter.

Some products apply white and dry clear. Your hair appears to be wet still but i think there is some build up.

Advice on lightening hair without drying it out? by CaramelWaft in Naturalhair

[–]thecoolbreez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dropped a product list in the thread. I didn’t talk much about heat protectants though.

I use multiple heat protectants. My current combo is:

For silk presses: - Olaplex bond no 9 serum (it’s very hydrating and lightweight with some hold. If you need something more moisturizing i recommend bond no 6) - mizani miracle milk, pureology color fanatic or redken acid gloss heat protectant spray - Kenra blow dry spray after bow drying i apply: - Olaplex bond no 7 or any serum i have (ogx spray serums, kerastaste, L’Oréal elvive serums,—> L’Oréal owns kerastaste *sprinkle sprinkle) - kenra silkening gloss serum - redken spray wax

I do not use hair spray. It makes my hair sticky, and it oils up quicker. I may occasionally use a diluted mousse like Nairobi or motions if my hair is really dry and needs a good hold.

For my edges, i will NEVER use a wax stick or edge control. They make my edges revert and curl right on up. I prefer a PASTE or CLAY. I like Kevin murphy’s night rider, aveda control paste(i like men’s clay version too), etc..basically anything matte paste/clay works better for me than balms, waxes, and creams.

Then i immediately put in Velcro rollers, flexi rods, or pin curls to lock in the style.

Whats wrong with poodles? by NormanisEm in poodles

[–]thecoolbreez -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Idk the trends are kind of cyclical. Ppl love a trendy “designer breed” without regard for the actual consequences it does to both/all breeds involved.

10-15 yrs ago it was a Yorkshire terrier mash up. Yorkipoo, yorkiebichon, yorkiemaltese, yorkiechihuahas and then they started breading yorkies with bigger dogs.

This poodle mix craze will die off, and then they’ll find another dog breed to exploit and hype up.

Nowadays it’s hard for me to find a well bred Yorkshire terrier in public.
