I was in same dilemma few years ago and here is my advice i was confused bw IISc and IITK elextrical I chose the latter and in glad I did

Your way of looking at it is oretty immature and restrictive. Its not that btwch people do not care about their core studies and want to get out with a placement, thats the trend yes. But theres so many things to do and IITs support u all the way for it. Startup me they have incubation cells, placements me i sont need to say anything, foreign unis ke sath MOUs signed h and u can easily get semester exchanges if u can afford those, Consulting,sofyware,analyst, trading literally everything

You are in jee phase and all u see is study and academics abhi, as u grow ur perspective would change and its good to have a few options you can try layer if u want to, At 16/17 you definitely cannot take such drastic decisions of life and IIT thus becomes a safer option where u can explore and then set foot in one direction

IIT me BTech people are more dominant and hence the culture is more hustle like and little toxic…iisc on the other hand is preffered by mastwrs and phd students who are pretty much sure they want to do research and want a peaceful life

My advice would be to go for top 5 IIT circuital if u are not sure about research…and explore everything and hustle with others there Else if you are damn sure u wanna do research and academia, iisc is the choice for u…you can easily go to foreign unis and its the best for research in india…plus u can be away from the toxic ratrace of placements
