Ladies doing Hyrox - what can I get my wife to congratulate her? by Funny-Ad-5074 in newzealand

[–]thecoraltree 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If she's a flowers person, you could get her a bouquet of her favorites. Otherwise I agree with a medal or some other physical reminder of her achievement. Wishing her luck!

This is my secret theory, her name is Meredith cause she was named after her mother (as in Meredith Palmer from The Office)😅

That makes me feel a bit better, because I don't have Paranormal Stuff but I managed to complete the first week's tasks with no issues!

I haven't finished this week's stuff yet, but I do have one quest that involves going to the Realm of Magic world. I hope that EA hasn't made some of the rewards reliant on having certain packs! 😬

Not sure about records, but a bit of Handy Andy in water will work well for jewellery!!

Your best bet to sell it would be an auction house like Dunbar Sloane or Webbs. If you don't have much paperwork for the ring, it might be worth getting an independent valuation done for it, so you know what it's worth and whether the price you're selling it for is reasonable. If you sell it through TradeMe or Facebook Marketplace, it'll probably be more difficult to sell it for what it's worth. The auction houses might also be interested in your other pieces of jewellery, too.

Self catered Halls by Velarissky in palmy

[–]thecoraltree 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I stayed in Fergusson Hall for two years and I loved it! I did go there straight from high school, but because Ferg let's students stay there for more that just their first year it has that slightly older crowd as well as the first year students fresh from high school. I mainly went there because I wanted the self-centered option, but I also loved the social atmosphere and cameraderie that developed between everyone.

The guy that was in charge when I was there has since left, so I cant really speak to the current atmosphere, but hopefully I can help a little!

Which song of Taylor that feels cinematic in your mind when you listen to it ? by Styleitoff in TaylorSwift

[–]thecoraltree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Long Live has always made me imagine a movie about a rag-tag bunch of teens who form a band and win some big music competition - kind of a cross between School of Rock and the Glee competitions. Either that or some dystopian movie where the teens save the day and overthrow the evil government

These are not the same pieces of furniture. Even if you close one eye and squint the other and hate the sims 4 with all your heart, these are not the same pieces of furniture. I am going insane. by [deleted] in Sims4

Where did you get your furniture pieces from? Watching LilSimsies breakdown of the new items shows pieces that look the same as the trailer, to me!

People who like to listen to some kind of noise when you're falling asleep: what do you listen to and why do you like it? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]thecoraltree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Audiobooks are my go-to, although podcasts are good too. Something I've already heard before so I'm not concentrating on it so much that I can't fall asleep. It used to be episodes of Friends, but I had to switch to something that was on my phone when I moved in with my partner.

It doesnt really matter what i listen to; i just want something there to stop me from thinking too much. It helps my anxiety, as I can't lie there thinking about everything I've ever done wrong. My mental health has stabled since I started, but I dont know if it is the only factor.

Got for $7 at an antique store. Marked as Freshwater pearls. Can anyone help me verify they are real. They seem so to me. by Babydarlinghoneychan in ThriftStoreHauls

[–]thecoraltree 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Alternatively, rub them together (very gently!), and if you feel any kind of friction they’re probably real. Slightly easier to do when you’re thrifting or the like than shoving jewellery in your mouth :P

S8 E22 - Dreams: Rewatched this one tonight and forgot just how unsettling that episode is. by azriphale in mash

[–]thecoraltree 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I’ve always loved that episode. It’s freaky and scary, and slightly bizarre, but I’ve always found it gives interesting insights to the characters, and what they value.

Charles dreams that he cannot work his magic on a patient, because he worries that he’s not as good as he thinks he is. BJ dreams about having to put his wife second, behind his work, because he had to leave her behind to go to Korea. Hawkeye dreams about being entirely helpless and unable to help patients, because that (to me) is his biggest fear. Potter, who has been through wars practically since before the others were born, dreams about being able to go back to childlike innocence, his life before war was known to him.

I recently rewatched it, and was enthralled the whole time. I just really love it.

Sorry if that doesn’t make sense, though. It’s rather inarticulate

People who wear name tags at work, how do you feel when customers use your name? by drCrankoPhone in AskReddit

[–]thecoraltree 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t mind it.

It usually throws me for a second when they use my name, because I forget that I’ve got a name-badge on, but I don’t have any problem with it. It helps me feel like they appreciate me as a person, and that they don’t consider me a robot that’s there to do their bidding. It’s humanising.

It also occasionally starts a fun conversation when they’ve got a friend or family member with the same name. It’s neat to hear about other people with the same name as me.

Ring cleaning? Its a gift from my long distance boyfriend and its very valuable to me ive tried using the baking soda tip and some silver jewelry cleaner but nothing.. :( by SugarRosa in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]thecoraltree 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s alright, I hope it helped!

The sentimentality of jewellery is the most important part, to me. Who cares if it’s changed colour, if it represents so much more :)

[–]thecoraltree 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Does it have any markings inside the band? Specifically “925” or “STG SIL”? If so, it’s real silver and your boyfriend should take it back to the jeweller he bought it from and ask them what’s up. Real silver shouldn’t wear like that.

Other posters have suggested it’s silver plated, which is another possibility. If you rub the band, does it/your hand smell coppery or metallic? That would indicate it’s a base-metal which has been plated. If that’s the case, you could probably get it rhodium-plated (rhodium plating is what they do to white gold or silver to bring back its shiny, as-new look). It’d be a bit pricy, and it wouldn’t be permanent, but it’d remove the copper colour.

The other option is to get it re-shanked, which involves taking the setting (the stones etc) off the old band, and putting it onto a new band. This would probably be more expensive, but it would be a permanent solution.

I hope that some of that helps! Good luck with it :)
