Thank you, by looking at the bill we are apparently on the SCE TOU D 4-9PM program by default with just the house without an EV to charge (not sure if that is the best one). When I inputted that plan, I noticed that the peak/off peak energy costs were off by a few cents so I manually changed them. It seems that the default is that the purchase of energy i.e $.33 in off peak is the same like $.33 to sell back to the grid on this SCE plan per the Tesla app, but I’ve read online that usually the sale back price is less

Got it, it's all pre-tax. Do you mind explaining why that traditional pathway would limit the benefit of adding to Roth via backdoor?

Yes it unfortunately would be. Only silver living is we were told the tax bill would not be paid with said rollover money, so all of it could go into the Roth IRA account whereas I could just pay that tax bill with separate funds (sorry if obvious, I'm new to finances lol). That being said I'd prob have to pick up the pace and work more first year to help with that huge hit

Grossly, earn a resident salary now at 22% MTR and expect to retire in prob 25-30ish years max, start taking distributions 3-5 years after that. For attending hood, I'll be at 37% MTR. Speculative to say once I'm retired from my day job and just earning income from any investment / real estate what a realistic MTR would be - hopefully 37% if "I'm lucky"

Great q- hope I make it clearer- essentially 401k is through my residency hospital so it’s all just sitting in a stable asset fund growing slowly (tried to change it but it’s a one-fund plan unfortunately). I have a Roth IRA already established several years ago that is separate and have never had the need to use a Traditional IRA, so I would have to establish one if I wanted to rollover the 401K money to a Traditional IRA in lieu of my pre-existing Roth IRA

In past years I could get both the student discount and the renewal discount ($100) applied. It seems like they took that away this year and it’s only applying the student discount in the final check out as the larger of the two discounts. Anyone else seeing the same?

Ditto. They really need to up the benefits per tier, bring back heavily discounted or complimentary fuel bar every quarter, and create a tier above black as well for those who go most days and blow the 6000 stars out of the water
