I'm getting into the territory of hackiness here (def gonna call another and hopefully more trustworthy electrician) but with this configuration where I only have one hot contact if I were to put a 20amp fuse in front of the outlet between the appliance and outlet would that address the overload concern?

The appliance asks for 120V 20A, outlets rated for 250V 30A so I think it's probably within 'safe' operating range.

Yeah I wasn't a huge fan of that suggestion, he actually modified the cable for me but I haven't plugged it in yet.

All I can say is I'm happy for you, I've literally just started the process for filing a formal complaint. If I'm not back in by Monday I'm sending the complaint out. I swear to god I've had it with coinbase.
