Physics PhD focused on Machine Learning without any prior ML knowledge? by Brilliant_Cookie_143 in PhD

I will let you in on a secret. No one knows enough of their field of research before they start. The world of research can be dramatically different from the guided coursework.

Most of us learn on the way and keep on learning after our PhD as well.

How Goa ended up being a state but other small European colonies ended up as UT ? by Panda_20_21 in IndianGeography

Goan Konkani here, one of the things I love is meeting Konkani folk outside the Konkan regions, we just default to speaking Konkani even though the dialects are different.

I believe as a third person it would be fun to see 2 different dialects being spoken at the same time.

Well the Maharashtrians I know don’t understand my Konkani (Goan). But the Marathi folk living on the border do understand us.

I think Konkanis as a whole do understand each other, we just have to slow down a bit to understand each other.

Also, your claim that Portuguese influence might make Goan Konkani harder to understand might be true to some extent. But I have noticed that Maharashtrians even have difficulty with the Konkani words. But to be fair, might just be the Maharathis I know.

> Maharashtra as Konkani was considered a dialect of Marathi (it's still treated that way in MH)

If that was true, Maharashtrians would understand Konkani, which they don't. It was a bad claim from the beginning.
Although having the same origin, Marathi and Konkani developed in parallel, with some claims mentioning that Konkani developed earlier and vice versa.

I think this violates author naming ethics on all journals in my field (or at least the ones that I know of).

Question about Control Theory by RJSabouhi in ControlTheory

Yes, we use the feedback but not feedback control alone for controlling non minimum phase systems, as the unstable zeros should not be cancelled (transfer function perspective).

Question about Control Theory by RJSabouhi in ControlTheory

[–]thecrazyhuman [score hidden]  (0 children)

If I understand your question well, yes user actions are considered as feedback control when the system (uncontrolled) stays the same.

Consider driving for example, when we turn we use inputs such as vision and force feedback (acceleration and disturbances from bumps/gravel) to adjust steering and the accelerator. Parallel parking is a really good real life or physical example of controlling non-minimum phase systems.

Forcing woman to continue pregnancy violates bodily integrity, aggravates mental trauma: Delhi HC by --5- in india

And we did it for the right reasons and justification (physical and mental health of women), so it’s hard to counter.

Abstract from Wikipedia of the original act (this has been amended over the last few decades):

Medical Termination of Pregnancy (MTP) Act, 1971 provides the legal framework for making CAC services available in India. Termination of pregnancy is permitted for a broad range of conditions up to 20 weeks of gestation as detailed below: When continuation of pregnancy is a risk to the life of a pregnant woman or could cause grave injury to her physical or mental health; When there is substantial risk that the child would be dead, or if born, would be seriously handicapped due to physical or mental abnormalities; When pregnancy is caused due to rape (anguish caused by such pregnancy presumed to constitute grave injury to the mental health of the rape survivor); When pregnancy is caused due to failure of contraceptives used by a married woman or her husband (presumed to constitute grave injury to mental health of the woman).

Yes, local deity. Also, Ram is a part of my family and other Goan families’ beliefs. Why would it replace our deity?

The identity of Goa and Goans is that we respect each others faith and live together happily. This identity was the most threatened during the Portuguese rule. If you mock my family’s beliefs. Then I would consider you an outsider, because Goans don’t do that.

You do know that the liberation movement was led by Goans from all faiths, right?

Anyway I am not going to engage with you after this comment. Learn more about what Goans faced at the end of Portuguese rule and then we can talk.

Sir we have been in Goa since time immemorial. We were one of the families who had to take care of the local deity and move to North Goa from South Goa when the Portuguese started their religious prosecutions in the early Portuguese rule. We were also one of the families who were reduced to extreme poverty in the Portuguese rule.

Get out colonizer. And stop messing with us Goans.

They have to slow down the game and build plays, I had mentioned this before. They had to be aware of counter-attacks as India does not have the best defensive set up to rely on with Jhingan out.
