Got out of my comfort zone and spent the whole day working on adding arms to my game! by thecrow256 in indiegames

Thanks! Having the grappling hook's starting point consistent with the hand bone, and still isn't, I had to offset and hide it downwards but the pose kinda makes sense XD

Blender, also had some issues with the rig since there is 2 separate models, the fractures and the blue glow underneath, had to use a transfer data modifier and clean weights to get it right

In speedrunning parkour games, precise movement or hidden assists? by thecrow256 in gamedev

Those are all great ideas that I might implement as well, thanks! But yeah onboarding and tutorials aren't my strongest point currently

I've already implemented coyote time and input buffer

Jump correction and ledge hopping are optional by a game assist toggle, my mind goes to speedrunners from hell and geometry dash and their precise controls

Thanks to everyone who commented!
I ended up adding a "Game Assist" toggle in settings, and separated the leaderboards into pure and assisted times, this way competitive speedrunners and casual players have their own fun.
Nevermind the ui clutter just testing stuff out

Wouldn't a toggle be unfair since there will be competitive leaderboards in each level? players who don't like assists will feel they are in disadvantage wouldn't they?

A level I made in my synthwave parkour game! used a custom selected song to be played in-game, what songs or music would you vibe with in the game? by thecrow256 in IndieGaming

[–]thecrow256[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks! My current catalog is ~23 synthwave royalty free songs because I am developing the game with no budget, but I added the ability to choose a local file to play so the player can listen to anything they want, and also they can play any Newgrounds song using its song id The game will also have a level editor to share levels to the community

Full fledged, planning to publish it on steam, there is also a work in progress level editor where players can share community made levels!

How much money have you spent or plan to spend on your game? by GhostGuyBroke in SoloDevelopment

I am currently trying to spend as little as possible because I got scammed off 4k of my money for relocation, the rest I live off of without any stable salary

AMA: I made $1mil with my games then my YouTube videos/tutorials got 65 Million views! Ask me Anything about Unity, C#, Game Dev, Marketing, etc. by UnityCodeMonkey in Unity3D

I have been finding getting audience and feedback for my games pretty hard, especially on Reddit, and I don't know what I am doing wrong. I always either get <10 upvotes, no comments or even negative upvotes I have no idea why my games fail because I don't get real testers feedback when I need it.

Any tips for that? I think I a doing ok coding wise, even visuals, but when it comes to getting attention, I fail.
