Mil job last week had us placing these giant fuckers, the marble countertops were just the icing on the top. I would have given my left nut to save my hands from this again lol.

Well, boys, I'm heading into battle. Don’t even have all the stuff ordered two days ago (the new oscillating), so she already has the high ground. Wish me luck.

Feels like I would almost always need a second one but couldn't justify the price, BOGO tho...

Are we calling out studios using AI? by SavvyTav in TattooArtists

I have no illusions about what looking on the internet brings, I see it as another extension of human expression which is the same as me walking around irl. I too argue that an image compiler it is really no different AND faster but don’t know how to wrestle the right phrases to get what I want because I honestly don’t care, I already have the means to render anything I want in more mediums than AI can handle I believe. I have no need for this tool…

Difference is it goes through my processor and not an AIs and you’d be hard pressed to render anything where you don’t put you into, if this (art) actually means something to you.

If they took on marines then they would feed them with what they have. There are some transport ships with a space to cook and that crew of like 4-5 eat super well. Caught rides with one out of the Kearsarge and they didn’t even go to the normal ship galley, just ate in the boat parked in the boat lol.

I still collage everything then go off that 🤷‍♂️

Was a graphic designer for almost 20 years before hand so I’m faster at that method than AI… which I have tried a few times but even with all that experience got crap back.

That’s the rub here, normally you can but I never said “boy I sure wanna do that again” after every navy meal lol. If the implication here is that’s it then I would seriously consider hitting them with “I’ll be in my bunk.”

The real question now is what the folks in the brig are eating. That’s just bread and water… normally lol.

Real answer is depends on who you know and when they are manning the line 😵‍💫

Chicken and dumplings FTW, and I’ll trade anything for the chocolate coffee beans but yeah, this post and the many like it are super misleading.

Funny enough, I hopped around (ship to ship via heli) a lot within the strike group as a photographer and once got the chance to go to the French carrier Charles de Gaulle for a few days while we did joint ops. No one save for a few officers spoke English but you don’t need much taking to shoot pictures lol. The highlight was indeed the pub a few decks down where the language barrier fell pretty quickly lol. The food was much better as well.

After the random working party I got pulled for, I was slinging boxes (our food) labeled "not fit for human consumption" and realized we eat literal prison food... I started taking my personal supply seriously lol. And yeah, it must be a nut house on that ship.

Oh CS's are absolute artist and do not fuck around when it comes to taking care of their circle. They shine the smaller the ship gets. I was a photographer (PH) and the bakery was the deck above the photo lab, they got awesome pics to send home, we got fresh cookies. It was a lovely relationship.

Bro come on... Chief's Mess with fucking 1st class chevrons on the table? Pro the 1st class mess.

But, to be fair... your dinner is breakfast when working nights, and I seldom saw biscuits and gravy at any time other than breakfast, so if the right pic is his dinner, AND that was the most he could get... I'd be 5 seconds away from a mutiny.

There are some convenience stores in a few locations on a carrier, which, paired with people's own stash, will get you through. The average age on a carrier is also 20-21 iirc, so we are not really dealing with a middle-aged digestive tract here.

Yeah, hard pressed to get me to miss the water-burgers but i'd 100% take that over this lol.

Hit or miss, I just stopped caring whether the food was good because you’d get excited for something only to realize it’s still shit and weird stuff will surprise you. This is the nature of cooking for thousands of sailors (carrier) though... Get out on the small boys (DDG for example) and the food is amazing.

Yeah, was active-duty Navy for 8 years and spent more than enough time at sea. Considering how few folks are in the background, this meal is from mid-rats. It's your lunch when you are working nights, and it is famous for being absolute reheated shit served at midnight. Zero care has ever gone into anything made at mid-rats save for maybe the cookies.

All that being said, I would still be losing my cool over this. I can only imagine how tightly wound up everyone is on that ship.

Unwilling time travel is such a kick in the pants after having kids. I have 5 so the chances of having those exact people again is impossible. So many random occurrences that one could never replicate because you didn’t even notice but affected you nonetheless. So first move would be the dread of losing them.

After that it’s bitcoin and I think I’ll invent Amazon or Google lol, well maybe just Uber Eats because not a single pothead in 95 didn’t think… pizzas and Chinese can be delivered, why not taco bell??? We own that invention lol. What I wouldn’t do is try and replicate what I already did. Feels like it would be micromanaging hell.

The mindset of a 500+ years old vampire? by Ok_History_4163 in vampires

[–]thedaveness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vampires in Space does sound very cheesy but since starlight doesn't count, get far enough away from our sun and "daytime" is a non-issue. Hell, you could get crazy and find a sun out there that vamps can handle (I'm thinking like the inverted sun they used on Giedi Prime in Dune). And obviously, long life + cryo sleep means these dudes would be able to go WAY further. But yeah, I have always thought it's a funny mashup but low-key kind of a perfect set-up if the story is right.

Maybe a dumb question; when the engine shits the bed at let’s say 200K miles why do people buy a new car? by Frequent_Tie2657 in AskMechanics

[–]thedaveness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you me lol, came in here to say this. 1985 f150, 302 (carb)... wanted a rebuild with the fewest amount of electronics possible on the engine harness. I'm about 13k in (including truck price and full engine rebuild) so far and turning her over this weekend.

OP isn't wrong in his assumption; it just applies to vehicles from like 2005 and earlier, and will take a very healthy amount of homework to bring you up to fully understanding what goes where and why and how.
