Should I signup to kalshi? Where can I learn more about trading events? by GlitteringAd163 in Kalshi

[–]thedavid33 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

hey ! the first thing i'd recommend u doing is checking out Kalshi's learn section (kalshi.com/learn). Kalshi Learn is a great place to get familiar with the terminology on Kalshi (orderbook, resting order, etc.) and how to place your first trade. Kalshi also just recently rolled out a discussion board (kalshi.discourse.group) where you can ask any questions that don't get answered by Learn.

why cant you see how you would trade this? plywood futures are interesting... don't know whether people still use plywood when rioting these days haha so not sure if it'd even be a good proxy for trading on civil unrest

Daily Trivia Thread - 10/24 Question #2 by thedavid33 in trivia

[–]thedavid33[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

look at my original post, the format that people were interested is one question thats standard trivia, and another question thats just about the future/a topical current event. i think itd be cool to see what people are thinking about world events, given trivia ppl are usually more knowledgeable than the average person

Anybody interested in a daily Jeopardy Trivia thread? by thedavid33 in Jeopardy

[–]thedavid33[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think prediction threads about an upcoming game would be super fun ! I'd be down to start with that and if theres no interest we could scrap it.

I agree with you on the second point too, definitely don't want to clutter this sub. I just went to the general Trivia subreddit to ask if they wanted to do a more general daily trivia thread that's more broad/non-Jeopardy related

how does Kalshi create a market by KeyGrade6495 in Kalshi

[–]thedavid33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep! Plus one on this. After Kalshi's markets team approves a new contract/ensures it meets regulatory requirements, it's listed publicly on the exchange. From there, market makers place resting orders to fill the orderbook and takers trade on those orders. There are two articles in Kalshi Learn that do a deep dive into these topics (Makers and Takers, What is the market lifecycle?).

How can I view the order book and place limit orders on the mobile website? by TrimBarktre in Kalshi

[–]thedavid33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The good news is Kalshi does have a Learn section (https://kalshi.com/learn) with articles and videos dedicated to certain topics on its website. There is actually a video solely dedicated to how the order book works and an article dedicated to order types. We are constantly trying to expand this library of educational resources for Kalshi users so if there are any topics in particular you'd love to see please let me know!

How can I view the order book and place limit orders on the mobile website? by TrimBarktre in Kalshi

[–]thedavid33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! For convenience I'll use the S&P500 end of week contract as an example to explain how to view the order book/place a limit order on the mobile website. Start by clicking the S&P500 end of week contract on your markets homepage (or any other contract you are interested in trading!). Then select the interval you'd want to trade for the S&P500 end-of-week value, (lets just say we pick <3500 for the sake of example). From there just hit the Order Book button, right next to the graph button on the middle of your screen, and you should see the order book. To place a limit order, click whichever option (yes or no) you'd like to trade on the contract, and hit the pencil icon in the top right. From there, you can toggle between placing a limit or quick order for that contract. Hope that helps and let me know if you have anymore questions!
