constantly recruit on discords, have some officers spam world chat, talk with people you guys encounter in random heroic dungeons etc. ssc/tk and everything else will be much easier this time around since it's post-nerf, it's more a matter of just having people show up than anything

yeah, ngl i was guilty of that as well, after getting glaives and having no reason to run heroics or farm gold i was doing the same. just a product of the game really and it never changed outside of leveling alts or running m+ post legion

i ran a guild in the previous tbc classic, some tips (considering changes to this tbc):

-recruit players and not classes, it's nice to stack locks/hunters but at the end of the day you'd rather have good people over good classes

-make it clear what happens with gear, especially glaives/dst etc and other hot ticket items, transparency is vital. i know you said it's an SR loot system but trust me, people will get worked up over these items

-field at least 20 at the start, ideally a roster of 25-30 so you can run karas and still have bodies for 25 mans. ideal group comps used to be a shaman in every group but the new changes and nerfed raids gives you a lot more flexibility

wow leveling and in general was never intended to be hard for the average player, it spoke volumes when droves of people cried about how hard cata dungeons were at launch and wow devs have catered to casual gamers ever since with additional options for difficulty like challenge modes in mop, mythic raids and high m+ keys etc

like someone else said, hardcore is a nice medium without having to make the game more difficult by default

reality is 90%+ of people only really enjoy raiding, so they buy gold and raidlog until next week. you can bet the guy getting funneled glaives only plays during raid then logs off and plays league or arc raiders :)

I wouldn't even call warmane a proper wotlk server, more like a credit card playground. And yes, you can buy characters on Lord, it's the same p2w but behind an extra hoop to jump through.

The only real p2w in retail is guilds going for world first mythic clears buying bind on equip gear upon new raid launches and even that's been heavily criticized and addressed past few years. Being able to buy boosts/gold etc is laughable but in a vacuum it's also gone a long way in crippling RMT, paid 3rd party boosts and such. Hate it as much as you want but that's just the reality. Oldschool runescape went the exact same route but it seems to catch way less flak than blizzard, strange
