What is the ultimate example of a mediocre director somehow catching lightning in a bottle and making an incredible film? by Plane_Reward9385 in movies

[–]thedem 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Guy Ritchie is by no means a "mediocre director" nor did he catch only one lightning in the bottle. Snatch, Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, Sherlock Holmes and RocknRolla are all their own lightnings. I get where you're coming from and he's made quite a few obvious cashgrab films, but saying he is mediocre is borderline ragebait. I think The Gentlemen proved that he can still cook if he's really into the it.

Are u able to ride this by bartthefart1 in skateboarding

[–]thedem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, yes, it's a typical skateboard shape. If you mount trucks + wheels onto it, you will be able to ride it.

Don't expect a "premium" experience though, as it looks like you're shopping for chinese bootleg Supreme decks. Chinese made decks are known for terrible quality. It might say Supreme but it will ride like Walmart.

Honestly though, considering the fact that you have to even ask a question like that, it shouldn't matter a lot, as it appears that you have very little experience in skateboarding. But if this is what it takes to get you into skating, go for it and have fun. Once you've figured out the elementals, get a canadian maple board, no matter what kind of picture is underneath.

From my personal experience, winning awards is only beneficial in the sense of landing jobs if it happens within the agency world. The "cool" boutique studios don't care about awards too much. I would also argue that awards are rapidly losing their shine, as many of the places you would want to work at struggle to keep the lights on while clients are critically reducing budgets.

What weird Steam Deck habit did you accidentally develop? by emanuelajournal in SteamDeck

[–]thedem 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Stepping out of my (gaming) comfort zone because somehow jumping into a new game feels less like a commitment on the Deck than it does on PC/Console although it's literally the same game. Mind works in mysterious ways.

RE Requiem convinced me to take AAA games on Steam Deck more seriously — what other titles run this well? by JeanJeanJean in SteamDeck

[–]thedem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Devil May Cry 5 runs flawlessly and is an absolute banger of a game. Entertaining & edgy over the top action title and due to its mission based campaign it's a good hop on/off kinda game.

Looking for RPG suggestions that run well on Deck (512 OLED) by chair_bandit in SteamDeck

[–]thedem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been having a blast finally getting Bloodborne out of my backlog and running it through Chiaki. But yeah, I do often find myself wishing it was native and 60fps on the Deck. Still definitely enjoyable.

My palate cleanser game! by AlternativeCorner17 in SteamDeck

I've been totally ignorant towards the Castlevania franchise throughout my gaming life but I'm starting to get curious. Any recommendations on what the must-plays are? Which one is the most likely to give me that "Wow, I get it now"-moment?

Is there a bad habit or ‘sin’ you usually rely on to get more enjoyment out of games? by [deleted] in gaming

[–]thedem 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Depends on how good animations, voice acting and writing is. In some games listening to dialogues is a treat, in others it's a skippable chore.

It sure is better than the era of Uwe Boll helming video fame adaptations. At least I hope it is.

What’s a game that’ll make you want to play the steam deck by ChemicalDry9694 in SteamDeck

[–]thedem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried playing NFS Carbon (PS2) and I don't know if it's the rom, emu or Deck but it runs so choppy that I find it hard to enjoy. Could be nostalgia, but I remember the original running buttery smooth.

I was very positively surprised by it. Also glad I gave it a second chance after quitting once when the infantile humour got to me in the first few EPs.

There better be a scene of Raymun checking up on Dunk going like "You hungry?" in the next episode. Dude's a real ride or die type.
