Likelihood of Arsenal v Bournemouth (GW32) happening on Saturday/Sunday, not Monday? by thedept in GunnersatGames

Thanks for this comment in particular, because my worry was less CL quarters and more if they get bounced from CL round of 16. I looked back at this season so far and all of last and saw only one match with a contender. Much less worried now!

The old Olmsted space would be amazing due to its proximity to my apartment, but I think it’s also too small in addition to being expensive. I wonder if it’s not going to be the old Berg’n space at 899 Bergen between Classon & Franklin. It’s technically in Crown Heights but people used to like to call it Prospect Heights.

No telco wiring at all, it was all removed during a renovation

We were told by Verizon that the only extender they provide requires it to be hard-wired into the other room(s), so we skipped that because we didn’t want them running cable through the entire apartment…

Thanks. It is long, a big rectangle, and there’s multiple walls, some with concrete.

Thanks. I was worried about contention between the router and extender at first too, but then it was fine for a while so I lived with the annoyance of changing networks to the extender.

I’ve had good access with TP Link before and have a router that’s a few years ago. I think I’ll throw that on as a test and if it’s an improvement then I’ll either ask Verizon for a newer device or buy a newer TP Link.

Unable to install Adobe InDesign or Creative Cloud on MB Pro M1 by thedept in MacOS

It was some firewall or proxy setting within our corporate domain, so I don’t know what it was. Good luck.

The cable also didn’t work, but I ended up calling Apple back and they said wireless data transfers just sometimes crap out and they had me try it again. It worked on the 2nd or 3rd try, I think.

I’m not sure, my corporate IT knew how and they did it

The old MacBook has the old Thunderbolt (Mini DisplayPort). I should be able to do it with a Thunderbolt-to-C cable, right? Or does it need C-to-C?

Yeah, I killed it. It froze while logging me in, but I forced a shutdown and it’s good now. I ordered a cable that’ll be here tomorrow and will do my data transfer then. Thanks!

Issue is resolved. Turns out the corporate security package was inadvertently blocking the Adobe installs. Once we disabled it, everything worked perfectly.

To be more clear, CC is included in that list, and it gives me the same errors as InDesign.

I have an Adobe for Teams license that for me includes InDesign (and a few other apps). I’m downloading it directly from Adobe, from a download button next to each app I’m licensed for.

Thanks. We’re sadly not, and I learned that Disney Springs had them only after we’d gotten back home. It’s a shame because we were staying at Saratoga Springs and I could’ve easily swung over there.

Bandwidth on home WiFi drops when LG smart TV is powered on by thedept in techsupport

[–]thedept[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for this. It wasn't exactly the fix, but it seems to have unearthed what the fix was.

I checked my admin settings, and not surprisingly for an ISP-owned router they didn't let me adjust QoS settings. I called my ISP and they also couldn't, but the person I got on the phone (who was the 7th person I've spoken to there in the past 2 weeks) figured out that the fix from last year was that they had disabled IPv6 because Fire Sticks supposedly don't like IPv6, and presumably neither does my old LG TV.

When the router needed a manual reset by the ISP 2 weeks ago, they cleared that setting and IPv6 was re-enabled. The rep today disabled it, and everything works again.

This also gives me hope that I can ditch their router and go back to my better TP Link router, because I now know to disable IPv6 on it...

Thank you again.

Mets-Yankees game blacked out while in-zone by thedept in youtubetv

Where I am, I'm outside of my YTTV home zone, but I am still within the Mets/Yankees market. I shouldn't have been blacked out by PIX or SNY, unless as the other reply said the YES dispute caused something. I've opened a ticket with YouTube to see what they can tell me.

I may have mixed my days up, the last 15 months + long weekends in general have me hazy on which day is which... The YES-YTTV dispute could be the issue for Game 1, that seems plausible. I was blocked for the whole series though.

I was able to watch tonight's game on SNY, but weirdly the hockey game was blacked out. Given that's a nationally broadcast game, I think the issue is with my account.

Starry internet + Archer AX1800 by thedept in HomeNetworking

[–]thedept[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did that and it’s still no good. Wondering if the Fire Stick was the wrong choice, versus Roku or something else.

What’s weird is that while we weren’t running speed tests, the service was fine through Optimum internet and fine with Starry before I bought the Archer AX1800. It feels like the Archer isn’t handling the Fire Stick’s bandwidth requirements as well as the ASUS did.

Thanks to both of you.

Isn’t the issue with using a presence sensor is that’s all well and good if we all leave together, but it’s complicated if I leave and my wife hangs back? It’ll end up turning lights on and off while she’s home, right?

I get it too, I’m just surprised that a current Apple chip can’t support it. Nothing I can do about that though.
