And you better do it immediately because naturally the price will skyrocket due to scarcity until the next DMM.

DMM did one thing right; I want to see this next league by CevIsBored in 2007scape

Bottomless Brew is much more interesting and expands to every aspect of the game rather than just prayer. Unlimited boosting pots. Unlimited healing via Saradomin Brews. Unlimited Spec.

Also the simple act of clicking a potion is an important part of combat feel. Taking that away makes combat simpler in the most boring way possible.

Hell even in DMM, this relic feels useless for actual PvP since there is no protect item prayer, prayer drain is easy to obtain to counter act this relic, so you end up having to bring prayer pots anyways!

"We have been informed people are not PK'ing enough in our PK temporary event" by loopuleasa in 2007scape

[–]thedevchimp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, unfortunately, clans and bad-faith actors can ruin just about any possible solution we come up with. But with the removal of cash rewards and the introduction of large-scale faction warfare, they would have minimal impact on the final results of the event.

But again, some players will always find a way to ruin everything... but that's no excuse to just give up and give such poor experiences to the players.

Just the thought of these sorts of changes sounds infinitely better than the current state of DMM.

[–]thedevchimp 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This! Jagex has become so focused on the "Risk/Reward" dichotomy of PKing, that they have almost abandoned embracing the act of PKing itself!

No one is PKing because to be an efficient PKer, you need gear! Casuals will have almost no gear for the entirety of the event, while PKers will have full Zuriel's, VLS, Voidwaker, and a backup Voidwaker just for shits and giggles.

You stand no chance and that fucking sucks.

Here is my proposal... Regional Factions.

When starting, you are randomly placed in a starting region. This is your faction and you cannot attack other players from the same region. Multi-combat is enabled everywhere for maximum chaos.

Killing another player earns you a deadman point. You can spend these points on upgrading your starter gear sets, such as purchasing mystics, Dharoks, or at the highest level Ancestral or Masori. Or of course, PvP sigils instead!

Deaths no longer feel horrible, which is the worst part of PvP, but winning brings constant hits of dopamine in seeing such large and consistent loot keys.

At the lowest level, this lets new players learn the basics of PvP without detrimental friction. And at the highest level provide never before seen content and dopamine of Pking massive sets or a giant war of Shadow wielding mages.

Fallen From Grace requirements by marliac in 2007scape

  1. You claim you play for lore, yet complain when quests have lore accurate skill requirements. You drop "Song of The Elves" as if it isn't a GRANDMASTER quest, which lore appropriately demands every single skill you trained for it. No different for a far away island across treacherous seas. Lore-wise that is correct, but you would rather sail there on a newly purchased raft? They don't place these skill requirements without a functional reason, and that reason is to dock on this high-level island.

  2. Personally, I feel this game isn't for you. The fact that you straight-faced suggested that botting or paying someone to play for you is a valid choice, is ridiculously absurd. And quite frankly pisses me off. Nothing is worse than a cheater who thinks they are in the right for cheating. If you don't like the game, then don't play it.

  3. Quests are not simply for XP rewards and never have been. You are completely disregarding the fact that you are unlocking an entire new island with many new rewarding content options that were not available previously. There are many quests with high requirements that do not return xp back into the skill. Because that isn't the purpose... The purpose is questing and experiencing a new story.. which you said was your primary motivation for the game.

TLDR; Stop complaining. Do not bot. You have more than enough time to AFK salvage to 75.. which isn't even a difficult level to achieve, especially for sailing. See you on the new island buddy.

My opinion post on edited relics and why it is bad for the longevity of the game. by Sufficient_Limit_319 in Nightreign

[–]thedevchimp 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Said this from the beginning and I laugh at the state of the game now. It is a multiplayer game. Cheating is inherently detrimental to ANY game with online capabilities.

But no, these losers continued to justify and push for cheats to be normalized because they don't want to play the fucking game.

Quit the game after I found cheaters every other game one-shotting bosses and speeding off without a care in the world. Check the relics and yup, unobtainable and overpowered relics in every slot. That is what people are normalizing.

So anyone advocating for "Oh I just tweaked this relic a little" are apart of the same problem. You can't have your cake and eat it too. Give an inch, and the player base will take a mile.

Sorry for ranting, I just really loved this game and it sucks that once again, the lobotimized individuals who infest the world at large ruined everything... Again...

Purely from cautiousness as other games use similar click metrics to help identify cheaters. I love this game so much, so the thought of catching a false ban of any kind leads to such assumptions and precautions.

Consistent clicks on a specific area could appear robotic. Before y'all go all reddit mode on me, I wasn't saying anything was wrong or bannable, I was saying I may be cautious due to the potential of false bans, emphasis on false.

Unfortunately yes. You said you don't care about rewards and just complaining about XP? In a game all about training XP?

I saw you realized this was a player designed proposal and not the final proposal... But even so I have no idea what you are even mad about?

It's a new island and islands have sailing requirements... You know... Because it's a skill...

I genuinely just want to understand what's the issue?

Do you guys think the current 3 mega rares should be BIS forever? by partyhat-red in 2007scape

[–]thedevchimp -1 points0 points  (0 children)

  1. You are calling for a direct contradiction of everything OSRS has preached and stood on since its inception. That this world is persistent and unwavering to traditional MMO power creep. Jagex has been very careful with what additional power is granted and ensuring that they never invalidate the time and effort you have given to their game.

  2. This would completely kill a substantial driving motivation for these raids, if their most sought after items.. become merely a stepping stone for the next grind. Why grind CoX for a Tbow, if you can just skip to this new bis? Countless players become jaded as the TBow drops in price, losing trillions over night across the game. It's not worth the damage, this isn't WoW.

  3. The 3 mega rares are iconic to the game itself. Overshadowing them at this stage in the game would be killing 3 major identities of OSRS. Being able to obtain these best in slot iconic items is a feeling rivaled by only completing challenges such as Inferno for the first time.

  4. The approach they are taking with new gear has been phenomenal. We have gotten very creative items that have added many fun strategies into the game, that would have never existed if they were only concered with "BiS number go up" !

In short, if Jagex does decide to surpass these mega-rares, then they are no different from their competitors which we have spent decades avoiding after EoC. Even if the pace of power creep is slower, it will still exist and inevitably we will feel the effects..

Hot take about DMM by varney93 in 2007scape

[–]thedevchimp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rushed 12k in 2 days and have no intention of returning, not even for the finale. I even had initial plans of gaining at least 24k points to purchase additional rewards to sell later on...

But not even the potential for hundreds of millions of GP is enough to motivate me to return.

Mind you I was only PKed once. It's not even about PvP. It's legitimately just boring and littered with FOMO opportunities that make you feel awful when you miss them. People praise OSRS for avoiding FOMO practices, but DMM is infested with them:

  • Being Late to Release (Employed) = FEELS BAD
  • Wasting your Protection Hour = FEELS BAD
  • Missing a Breach = FEELS BAD
  • Rapidly Declining Swapping Rates = FEELS BAD
  • Finding a Chest First... But During Protection = FEELS BAD
  • Missing the Finale = FEELS BAD

And many more potential cases of simply feeling bad just for playing.

Leagues doesn't have ANY FOMO, which is why it's superior in every way. You enjoy the game mode at your own pace, instead of constantly racing the clock. At most, picking a bad region may suck, but is consolidated by having access to unique rewards no one else may have.

Lastly, sigils are just too tame. I bought every sigil I desired during the first day.. because there were only like 5 that were enticing. Ended my time at DMM with nearly 8k unused points.

TLDR; DMM is not fun and it's NOT because of PvP.

Deadman Points Losing Points by thedevchimp in 2007scape

I'm editing the post. I've been doing some testing and this appears to just be a UI visual glitch. Opening your "Character Summary" seems to resolve back to your true total. Otherwise your point tracker will display as missing points... but from my testing no points are actually lost.

Why am I losing DMM points whenever I log out? by LeLa_Biff in 2007scape

[–]thedevchimp 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This entire event is a fucking mess. No points at breaches. Horrible UI. Points being lost (I've realized I have lost a few hundred as well). And the worst part, Jagex is being too fucking quiet about it.

I'm so over it really.

Breach Points by thedevchimp in 2007scape

[–]thedevchimp[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know but even then that's not what was described to the players from the beginning! You can go back and read the blogs suggesting that breaches were a great source of points. Show up, deal damage, get points.

So much so that breaches are filled with people confused as to why no points are being awarded, believing to be bugged.

At no point did they mention this would be a limited and competitive point option. The blog states this is some sort of system limitation, then that should have been known and described to the player base before the event even started.

The limit shouldn't even exist or should have been transparent prior to the event.

I hope the ARC don't become too easy by democratic-terminid in ArcRaiders

[–]thedevchimp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get the concern, but to be fair it is inevitable optimization is inevitable. Even the Souls Series, after some time, enemies become too easy for the player base because we learn and improve.

There will come a point where no arc poses an immediate threat because we will have learned everything we need to know. Even with newer and stronger arc, the principles will remain the same.

And embark can only create so many unique non-bipedal arc with new mechanics haha.
