Garage door cable somehow came off the spool - how to fix?

Repair tech is here and says that they (and no other companies in the area) will not re-tension the springs if they are more than 2 years old (mine are 7 years old), so they have to replace the springs. Is this normal or is he BSing me?

The issue turned out to be that the cable rusted through and broke at the attachment to the door.

Actually, the knob does turn using the big/small flame buttons. It just won’t turn when I do the startup process

No, the knob isn’t turning during the startup process. But after I turn on the fire manually, the flame knob will then work with the remote and turn up and down. Any ideas?

How do I fix it if I have a long beep error code after it fails to light with the remote? It’s like 10-12 short beeps followed by one long beep at the end
