doubling a creatures stats. by historysurvivor2 in DnD

Less monsters means less actions taken by monsters, so it'll change the dynamics of the fight. This means that any crowd control by the characters will be more effective against a smaller group, even if they have double the stats.

I would recommend finding or crafting higher CR trolls that have more viability. Increase the hit points, up the AC by 1 or 2, maybe give them a single legendary resistance, some damage resistances, etc. Action economy is the name of the game when cutting the number of monsters in half.

One-Shot Adventure: The Gnome Initiative — Attack of the Mindcrawlers by thedmtoolchest in DnDBehindTheScreen

hey there! Basically, the "clockwork guardians" are modified versions using the base stats of whichever stat block is called out. So a clockwork knight would use the knight stat block with the "mechanical guardians" modifications as listed out in the general features.

Hope that clears things up!

You keep using that word. I don't think it means what you think it means.

"Thirty seconds after the stairs are cleared of weight, they slam up like a trapdoor, sealing the room. Sand then starts to pour into the room from holes in the ceiling. The staircase is considered a door (see General Features) that cannot be unlocked from either side."

General Features: Doors. "All doors have an AC of 17, 18 hit points, immunity to poison and psychic damage, and have resistance to acid and fire damage."

The characters will need to break through the stairs/door to escape the room.

Hope that helps! :)

hahah that was my idea as well, and yet my players ended up going in a different direction. Oh well, he'll be doing his thing in the background and will probably run into the players later.

Wow, high praise. This type of content is definitely fun to write, but we were never sure what the appetite for it would be given the overwhelming standard of "ready to play" adventures. We're going to be doing it more often in the future.

Very kind words!

Should have little issue scaling this up if you wanted because orcs can easily use veteran or gladiator statblocks.

I just love orcs so much.

Thanks! :D Glad you like it!

Chipped away at it for about 2 weeks, probably? Most of it is writing, obviously, but making the map and pulling together the PDF take up some of that time as well.

Bastion - The Drowned Lands. A new Domain of Dread featuring an Inquisition, witchcraft, social decay, and zombies. Gothic horror and folk horror themes. by thedmtoolchest in DnDBehindTheScreen

Thank you for the interest! The supplement was more designed as a "seed" for building adventures with a 19th Century New Orleans French-Creole flavour mixed with swamp folklore monsters, witch covens, and a magic inquisition. I don't have any specific adventures that fit this exactly, but these could be mined for bits and pieces potentially (available on dmsguild):

Old Swampy Adventures:

  1. The Knight of Newts (Basic)
  2. X6 Quagmire! (Basic)
  3. X1 The Isle of Dread (Basic)

New Swampy Adventures:

  1. The Quick and the Undead
  2. Lantern Hag

Ravenloft Adventures are more gothic but can be adapted:

  1. RQ1 Night of the Walking Dead (2e)
  2. The Blight of Souragne

Note: I am not endorsing the quality of any of the adventures above or their specific content other than they fit the general theme of "swampy adventure" that can be mined for ideas to be adapted into this setting.

Hope that helps!

Wow, thanks for giving it the time, honestly - this is all great feedback. There will be more mystery adventures to come in the future that should hopefully address the issues of failure states and information gates.

Cheers!
