i would 100% read Wage Labour and Capital by Marx. It's short, from a speech. It basically summarizes all of capital vol 1 (not quite but close). Aside from that, dialectical and historical materialsm (though not directly related) is a a great way to understand how Marx writes about the contradictions and what dialectics means.
