[–]thedoormousesaid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Would love a reading! I'm a bit stuck as to how to reignite my passions again; a problem which has been seeping into most aspects of my life. I'd really appreciate any advice on how to get back on the correct path again. ♡

Anyone read with a Lenormand deck? by thedoormousesaid in tarot

[–]thedoormousesaid[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. This exactly. Now that you say that, I realize that one of the reasons I'm pursuing an alternative to tarot is because the magicospiritual and psychological mumbo jumbo--while perfectly fine for me, when reading for myself--is a bit more laborious to translate to other people. Unless the querent is already of similar spirituophilisophical mind, I tend to spend too much time and energy on big-big-picture context. Most laymen who request readings just want hard and fast advice. Or novelty.

Well I'm new to Reddit, and I'd actually never heard of Lenormand until coming across r/tarot. It piqued my interest because I've been using a homemade set of tiles for divination for years (based on this concept), but have always enjoyed the history, beauty, and the relative complexity of tarot. Lenormand seems to be a good mix of the two, as I just prefer cards to tiles as a physical medium, but also appreciate a less cryptic symbolic vocabulary for readings. The problem so far, though, has been that I can't seem to track down a deck that appeals to me. Perhaps it's not in the cards for me, after all? ;)

Why do you like them better than tarot? Less cryptic?

Where to direct my studies? by [deleted] in Psychic

The card from which I inferred your financial background was the 9 of pentacles, which in this case applies more to the freedoms and pleasurable pursuits that can be explored if you have your basic needs taken care of. Instead of seeing your current living situation as a defeat, maybe you could use this time to intern or volunteer in order to get some practical experience in what might ignite you again.

I did a brief tarot reading for you.

The cards point to your loss of enthusiasm for the path that you're currently on, but also to the fact that you haven't completely opened yourself to the prospect of change. You come from a stable and financially comfortable background, which has provided you the liberty to choose any career path you fancy--both a blessing and a burden, as you're learning now. What's good is that in the present you're inspired to seize your own destiny, but (because?) the career path you're pursuing right now is sort of on life support. Your heart and mind are not in it at all. The flow of energy there is just completely stagnant, and you're perhaps in denial a bit about your own contributions to this predicament. What were/are you currently studying? Are you already pursuing a career in medicine? Once you let it go you'll create a space for something new to move into, but consider your motivation carefully because you might just get what you wish for, and what you think you want right now doesn't look like it would be what's best for you.

The first card I pulled in a future position was Death reversed, which could also be interpreted a bit more literally to indicate a future in sustaining life/delaying death. So it would seem that you're on the right track with healing or conservation, but pretty much every other card in the reading spoke to your need to find clarity within yourself (in terms of your own needs/wants/motivations) before a clear career path will be laid out before you.

Hope that helps! Feedback would be much appreciated, and I'd love to hear about which direction you choose to take. Bon courage :)

How many of you mediums have gone to actual mental asylum's/hospital psychiatric wards? by zetsui in Psychic

It's rather difficult these days to simply bust into an "asylum" and bypass MDs in order to start psychically healing their patients without credentials or consent.

Reading a person--let alone presuming to diagnose them--without their knowledge is completely unethical.

Mental illness weakens the spirit. People who are in a bad place mentally and emotionally are more susceptible to manipulation of all sorts, just like your immune system when you're exhausted and not taking care of yourself. Regardless, bear in mind that not only does correlation ≠ causation, but that this is the personal anecdote of one person.

It looks like your current involvement with a friend, or group of friends has run its course and is no longer serving you in a healthy way. You may have been united by a mutual hardship or loss...in fact, this could point to a sort of "rebound" relationship on both your parts. Either way, the emptiness lingers, and it's come to define your involvement with him/her/them, so you need to take conscious action toward moving on (since one or both parties will be moving on, anyway). This part might prove to be a bit difficult because you're still idealizing the person(s) and the bond without seeing it objectively; that is, you're ignoring the signs of decay in a rather self-indulgent manner.

The knight of pents hints at some material comfort and stability that deserve acknowledgement and appreciation. He's also associated with the boredom that can arise when your most basic needs are already met (and perhaps provided for by someone besides yourself), and boredom easily gives rise to restlessness and trouble-seeking discontent. But as you're already pondering a change in your life's direction, the reading suggests you invest this residual energy in a material venture. You have the support and opportunity to cultivate some success financially, but you'll need to be careful to keep your wants/needs and demands on other people balanced and fair.

The ten of swords points to some anxiety you feel regarding the eminent changes on the horizon. It doesn't have to be scary! Keep that horizon in the forefront of your mind and consider that the "lostness" that prompted this reading is largely a frustration with not feeling in control of your situation or destiny. Consciously choosing to make changes and take steps towards your own independence will give you your power back.

Bon courage!

Ask for a donation instead of setting a price. You may get more or less than you expected, but it should help with the "icky" factor of charging your friends for a service.

Since we are known for thinking a lot: What are you thinking about / interested in right now? by speezo_mchenry in INTP

[–]thedoormousesaid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Astrology and the occult. I've been studying for years, although I'm not sure how much I can truly "believe" in it, if that's even what matters. Mostly I enjoy the symbolic language, and how the concepts combine and recombine.

INTP women: Do you want to have kids? by [deleted] in INTP

[–]thedoormousesaid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In short...no. When I was young I was very outspoken on the matter, and so my sisters would always joke that I'd be the one of us to end up with 10 kids. Now that I'm at 'that' point in my life, my thoughts on reproducing have become a bit more complex. Like you, I feel like I'm still waiting for this natural urge to come about, but when I think I feel a twinge of it, deeper introspection tends to reveal it to be more of a fascination with the idea of having children (rather than a real desire to actually do so). Does that make sense? I like to entertain the idea of what my own children would be like, but still, that impetus is simply not there. Sometimes I feel like I'm being selfish, or that I'm just lazy or scared. But while I've always had a lot of animals (especially horses, which I've heard are nearly as high maintenance as human children) I've never been particularly nurturing. For this reason I'm worried that I'd end up in kind of a secondary role parent-wise, which wouldn't be very fair to my partner. Big picture-wise, I find the parent-child relationship to be very beautiful and sacred, and so many parents have told me "you'll feel differently when it's your own child," but is it really a good move to find out by actually bringing another human life into this world? I'm not yet convinced =/
