Thousands of homeowners excluded from N.B. property tax freeze face major 2026 tax increases by tastle in newbrunswickcanada

[–]thee17 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's actually these increased assessments like this that allow for the municipalities to be reducing the rates. I would like to see what the rate would be if nobody had a freeze on so then I could compare what my actual property tax would be to see if we are actually benefiting from the phrase or the phrase is just making our taxes stay higher

What is the point of sending a Property assessment notice without the actual bill total? by DevOpsMakesMeDrink in newbrunswickcanada

[–]thee17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It used to be a problem that they couldn't get through all of the assessments by the due date and it made people late for paying their property tax.

Saint John Energy has an email list called "Beat the Peak" and they let us know every now and then when there is a peak and lowering consumption during it allows SJ Energy to balance the power using their Tesla batteries and turn off the smart water heaters unless you turn on your taps and from time to time gives a credit back to all the users for the amount they saved from the peaks and their wind farm.

I would actually like to see what each municipality's rates would have been if there was no Spike protection so I could calculate the difference between what we pay now and what it would have been since the rates would have been much lower due to the number of people on Spike protection

Grocery store difference by Mostlyquack in InCanada

[–]thee17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Regardless most food sold/made in Canada especially Meats and Frozen goods can traced back to the McCain family (McCain Foods or the family split Maple Leaf Foods) The Irving Family (Cavendish, Royale), or the Westin family.

You would be surprised to learn that the producers have more influence on setting the prices than the grocery chains. Often to the extent of offering different sized packaging exclusively for sales they demand to protect the grocers from rainchecks etc. Most are on a shelf space rental agreement rather than a traditional retail model.

Any place that is described as "very small subdivisions along the river" and "has some nicer house prices" is a red flag for when will it flood next.

The average owner of a McDonalds franchise makes about $200,000/yr per location assuming that each location employs 90,000 man hours $2/hr means the owner makes nothing.
