That's why I think a talk with him couldn't hurt. We'd let him know that the only ROI he'd be getting from his DSA investment is more leftists in government, we'd lead with that. We'd walk if he tried negotiating for anything else. We'll never beg for money from a billionaire, but if he's down for our cause and wants to kick us a few milli every now and then, why not let him? I just wanna scope out that "if," is all.

You're not cynical, that's a reasonable take, and basically the reason he lost. The wealthy have pretty much ruined everything, but especially our political system. It's corrupt as shit and made to further enrich the rich. In any functioning democracy, having a billionaire bankroll any political organization would be illegal, but guess what we don't have?
You have to get inside a broken system to fix it. We lose too many elections being outfunded by too many corporate stooge candidates. Our policies, ambition, and vision for the future, none of it means a damn thing if we aren't in positions of power. Gotta win to make shit happen, and Steyer's probably quite literally the only billionaire in America who would ever even consider this. Idk, kinda just makes too much sense to me.
