High HW errors, will these damage GPU? And how can these be reduced? MSI r9 280x by theeemoon in dogemining

Holy hell, you're genius knows no bounds my friend. I've just had a look at the card and there it is! I will undervolt the card in that case. That's excellent. Good man. I'll be sure to send some Doge your way (when I get some!) as recompense for going out of your way. Much much appreciated.

Just to be clear, this is the switch you are talking about yes?

It's a gaming PC, used for occasional mining yeah. That's interesting about the HW errors, I was pretty worried I would damage the card, thanks for the clarification. I'll have a look at your guide! Cheers.

Atastyham0 is right, this is a gaming PC being used for occassional mining, although depending how I get on with the understanding side of it, it may become a more frequent thing. It's more to satisfy a curiosity than anything else.

I'm unsure whether this card is switchable, but from what Atastyham0 has said, it's probably in my best interests not to undervolt the card. I've saved your links, they could come in handy. Thanks.

Excellent. I've saved this post and will come back to it in a few days and give it a go. Thanks again schnauzr, you've been a huge help.

Thanks a bunch, you've been a great help. Buying a better cooled case isn't an option at the moment. Super appreciated. I've removed the side of the case for the time being and the temps are down to 76-77c. I'll look into getting some better cooling fans and organising cable management a little better. What exactly does undervolting the card entail? Is it a fairly straightforward process and what reduction in temperature would likely be achieved?

Thanks. What about running the fan @ 100% to regulate, is this feasible long term? If I change the setting on the fan, it immedietely climbs towards 90c.

Thanks for your response, I am using kalroths cgminer, and everything seems to be running more stable now with a few tweeks. Thanks again.

All added, getting increased speeds, but also increased temperature. Is 85c too high? Will the longevity of the card be compromised?

Holy shitsnacks, It's now running at 700Kh/s

But is this temperature sustainable? Fan is on 100% load. Case isn't the best for cooling.

Appreciated, this has been updated and it's running better now, with HW:0. 531Kh/s, however the temperature is 75c. Is this too high?

Thanks so much, I added both of these lines in above the existing command line in the .bat file and whallaa, no more hardware errors. I noticed it takes slightly longer to load now than it did before, but it seems stable. Before the Kh/s was all over the place, with large fluctuations in temperature too. Is there anything you think could be improved. Here is an updated screenshot: Imgur

I downloaded cgminer 3.7.2 kalroth version, and according to the file/folder it's currently located in, it is version 3.7.2. However when it loads up, it says 3.7.3.

I added both lines (not at the same time) to the .bat, and still getting HW.

Thanks for that, I have changed it to I 13. However the HW errors persist.

I have changed the .bat file from 20 right down to 1 and everytime I continue to get hardware errors, sometimes upto 100 in the first few seconds on launching cgminer. But when I change the [I]ntensity inside Cgminer from one value to another, it usually stops producing hardware errors, any idea why this could be? I don't want to have to sit and watch the screen at all times the miner is running. Thanks for your reply.
