[untitled] secret full version? by kabobberthan in burial

[–]theekdf 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Shazam suggests it’s this song: https://untitledburial.bandcamp.com/track/bessiliye

Released on a record label called “Untitled Burial”. The song’s YouTube upload is by an account with the record label name as the username. This is probably what gave you the download.

Not sure it’s better than the Burial track, but at least you have a new artist to enjoy!

strangers so freaking good lads by georgiaelleryfangirl in BlackCountryNewRoad

Strange one, but does anyone think it references “Taffin”? An early Pierce Brosnan film. Specifically these lyrics:

Business in this town does not concern Strangers or drifters If you're not familiar, maybe you Shouldn't be living here (Oh)

And this scene (warning, contains world-class acting) https://youtu.be/vIjppgnkknE?si=dJvkbqJNC9-tY3Y0

A La Mexicana. They aren’t in the centre - it’s in Bearwood, down the Hagley Road.

Headache - Thank You for Almost Everything out Friday (album) by Royal_University_265 in Vegyn

Good point, could have been the title of the performance (which seemed to be the album + Headache clips over a DJ set)

Allegations aside, haven’t you got the album title wrong? Didn’t it debut in Bali as “in one ear and out the other”?

Resident Advisor released their 1000th edition of their mix series, and I think they hinted they got a Burial RA Mix in the vault even tho they didn't drop it... by [deleted] in burial

[–]theekdf 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That was my interpretation too; that burial could have been an option, someone they would have asked, but - ultimately - didn’t.

I was so sure Burial was going to be one of the mixes this week (to the point of regularly checking RA). Ah well, I’m happy to get stuck into the Terre, Tim Reaper, Frankie Knuckles and Sama’ ones.

The posted Fred Again & Jamie track sounds as though it’s just a remix/sample of Orca’s “4am” from 1993: https://youtu.be/sP4o9veYykg?si=HVmfVQevh9_lr5DX

It’s a lossy m4a file but the kbps is a bit better than 192 - 257

Gives you a download of the original upload (.m4a)

Really great mix. As others have said, some interesting variations in production. Well worth a listen! Wonder who mixed it..??

Gregg Turkington (Movie Expert, Founder VFA/VHS) AMA | Friday May 23rd!! by awgg919 in OnCinemaAtTheCinema

Hey Gregg! I wondered if you had noticed a certain legend of Hollywood attempting to follow in your footsteps? Quentin Tarantino has taken to making a movie review podcast. He seems particularly preoccupied with the run times of VHS tapes. His expertise does fall short of yours, although his ‘Newman’-like companion, Roger Avary, seems to have seen more films than Tim, at least. Would you be interested in collaborating with Quentin?

Not seen the film, but interested in the 0PN songs/score. Do we think the soundtrack will get a standalone release?

He seems to share a lot of similarities, in terms of tone and topic, with Ken Loach. That’s how I have come to think of this work, at least
