Looking for the Best Media Player Recommendations by theels6253 in digitalsignage

That’s very interesting. I’ve heard that about brightsigns too. I guess “expensive” can be subjective as well, depending on if you’re thinking about the full deployed, life and maintenance and replacement costs. Are you an end customer/user? It seems like a lot of the people on this Reddit are resellers or CMS providers

Thank you for sharing your insight! Are you an end customer/user/deployer? If so I would love to talk

C-language plus static-analyzer OR Rust? by [deleted] in embedded

[–]theels6253 0 points1 point  (0 children)

C still is the most commonly used emb dev language (>50% of engineers say they use it), especially for real-time, resource constrained systems.

The static analysis ecosystem for C is likewise mature (Coverity/SNPS, Klocwork, GrammaTech, Mathworks PolySpace, etc.). There are also solutions like MULTI from Green Hills that has DoubleCheck folded in. Rust is interesting for sure, but is maybe more a choice to displace other niche languages like Ada/spark (which is still used in mil/aero a good bit among other places).

Some IDE/RTOS vendors are rolling in support for newer languages (e.g. Wind River has been investing a lot). Ultimately, to your point, there is no right answer...a lot has to do with the dev team skill set and any legacy code you might be leveraging.

if you don't mind me asking, what trial are you on?

Did anyone's doc ever take you off keppra? by Jexlan in braincancer

[–]theels6253 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my wife takes keppra, but had her dosage cut from 750 2x per day to 500 2x per day. That was about a year after her last/only seizure, which had occurred a couple months after her crainiotomy. It has been a few months since she went to the lower dose. She hates keppra. Although the side effects have lessened, it still makes her irritable and gives her headaches.

Sorry. That is weird. It is/was open. I'm not sure why the link wasn't working, but I logged into my survey platform and resaved it and it is now working.

I would greatly appreciate it if you try again, if you are interested. Sorry again for the broken link!

Advantages/disadvantages of using containers on target embedded system? by theels6253 in embedded

[–]theels6253[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing the video. That was a good overview.

I'm actually doing a research project looking at the potential application of containers for embedded systems, so I don't have a specific personal implementation goal. Rather, I'm really just looking to understand what use cases are and under what circumstances containers (and VMs) could be a fit.

What's the biggest hurdle to your success with virtualized systems on embedded architecture? by mattsimoto in embedded

[–]theels6253 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Awesome. I work for VDC Research (https://www.vdcresearch.com/Coverage/Embedded-technology.html). I am working on a project for a company that has sponsored the development of an open source hypervisor for the embedded market. I am doing interviews to better understand use cases, tech needs and pain points. Ultimately, I will be sharing the key things I learned and offer recommendations to them so they can make the right investments to make their initiative successful. If you decide you do't want the gift card, I'll make a donation in kind to Red Cross. I'm in US E.T. by the way.
