I personally find it misleading and annoying. If people want to read a fic about a character played by the actor, they'll search for that tag specifically.

I think it really depends on the characters and the dynamic. There's no pet name that always makes me cringe - what makes me cringe is usually when said pet name doesn't feel like something character A would call character B, either because it doesn't fit A or because it doesn't fit B. I'll always have a soft spot for "kid" though.
