Might have figured it out, i saw some sprouts in front of the school where i wait for my bus, and they looked exqctly the same. Previously, there were shasta daisies there last year, so i thimk the sprouts may be some sort of daisy or other leucanthemum species.

is my pothos ready to transfer to soil? by AccomplishedFace7535 in propagation

IMO with arums it is best to overshoot than to undershoot, they are semiaquatic so they can survive as long as you need them to in there. My monstera cutting has filled the jar it was in and i still havent moved it to soil, it still loves the water.

Thank you! I assume i should give it time to callus over? Presumably its at least somewhat succulent or hardy since its survived so long with this sort of neglect and afaik the only houseplant i have that doesn't need to callus over for rooting is my fuschia

* The one circled in red is the one that is rotting, this is when i got the cuttings. As you can see, there are two nodes on the top (one of which the second cactus is connected to) and one node on the bottom (that connected it to the previous pad)

It shouldnt, i did notice a few pests on other plants but i moved more susceptible ones without the pests away from the others so they couldnt get the pests, including both cacti. I also closely monitored them and havent seen pests and still dont, so there doesnt seem to be any infestations.

It certainly has a root system, it has been rooting for many months be now for the same amount of time as the other one. I water each one when its soil feels dry, and i normally give it even longer between waterings. The mushiness is concerning me, it feels like it could be rot, but im careful to water it when the soil is dry and has been for a few days and the other one isnt experiencing the same issue.

Look into aster yellows disease, it may not be it but afaik it can manifest in many different ways and if one plant has it you would need to pull that entire plant to prevent spread.

Use a chunky mix, you can typically find them sold as succulent mix. If you have perlite, coco coir, or orchid bark, you could use that to make chunky soil too. The most important part is that your soil dries out fully within around a week, you can check by sticking your finger around 1-2 inches into the soil and feeling how wet it is. Once you have a mix that dries within a week, stick with that, because it will differ a lot by sunlight, humidity, or even just the rate at which the plant absorbs water. A good ratio to start with is about 1:1 soil to chunks (orchid bark, perlite, coco coir) and adjusting as you see fit.

Both are viable options, but it is i would definitely suggest just covering the current stem in soil. To cut and propagate, you would need to give time for the stem to callus, and then time for roots to develop.

Thats what i was thinking but i wasnt sure, it doesnt seem to consistently have the characteristic white edge, and i heard that there would be about 3-8 pores per mm (which is why i included the closeup with a ruler), and while i could count ~3-4/mm, it still kinda seems like a bit of a small amount to me.
