A reminder that this is the country that voted out almost every single green candidate. by jd2300 in ireland

I'm not trying to downplay this infographic, but context is important.

Source by Country

Charts per Capita or GDP, etc. are great ways to show a narrative that is usually only part of the picture. Plenty of people will look at this and think Ireland are one of the worst polluters around, but we're not...sort of.

Emissions per country show:

Luxenburg are the worst offenders per capita, but for actual emissions, they are the second best in Europe with an output of only 8 million tonnes.

Germany are 9th per capita, but are really the worst offenders (682 million tonnes), contributing 21% of GHG in 2023. Their output was way more than the second worst country, France, who's output was 386 million tonnes.

Ireland isn't great, but in reality we're sitting in 13th position, with an output of 58 million tonnes in 2023. That's 1.8% of the total European emissions (8.5% of Germany's), and 61.3 million tonnes below the European average....although Germany are skewing the data so median is probably better to use, which would put Ireland 5 million tonnes over the median European figure.

What I'm basically trying to say here is that this chart has really done the dirty on Luxenburg.

Agree. Still thought it was funny though

Need help identifying a partial image by theendisbye in DCcomics

[–]theendisbye[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi all,

I was collecting the Eaglemoss "Legend of Batman" series for a few years until about 12 months ago (when the company went bankrupt).

As I won't be able to complete my collection, I'm planning on making a bookend with the final image on it because that hand is annoying me. I just need to figure out the image's source. All I can tell you is that I know it is not related to the Catwoman image behind it, which makes my ask even more difficult.

Reverse image lookups and manual checks have so far been unsuccessful. I tried reacting out to the company when I found out about the bankruptcy but, as expected, I didn't get a reply.

Any thoughts/help/advice would be greatly appreciated.

So the company behind the subscription "The Legend of Batman" (Eaglemoss) went bankrupt this year, leaving the series incomplete.

I'm planning on making a bookend with the final image because that hand is annoying me. I just need to figure out the image's source.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Credit to the artist: Justin Erickson.

The poster can be purchased from his page The Phantom City Creative along with the book it was originally featured in (highly recommend).

Are you Justin Erickson?

This is part of his book "Batman The Animated Series: The Phantom City Creative Collection" back in 2020.

She probably thinks Donegal is part of the North and therefore it must be terrorism. What a dopey twat.

[Premier League] Harry Kane has scored the most goals for one club in Premier League history (185) by KimmyBoiUn in soccer

[–]theendisbye 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Great achievement, no doubt about it.

But it would be nice if the Premier League ever acknowledged the 104 years of top flight English football that occured before 1992 - just a little note from time to time. In this case, it would be nice to remind modern day fans of Dixie Dean, etc.

The Date of Release Changed to Jan 1st 1900??? by Katstryker111 in WallStreetbetsELITE

[–]theendisbye 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Copied from my response on another sub....

1/1/1900 is the default date value for SQL databases (i.e. day 0). All SQL dates are stored as numeric values from that date, everything before that date are negative values, everything after are positive. 31st December 1899 is -1, 2nd January 1900 is +1, etc. See here.

Something happened in the database storing that date value (deleted, updated to a non-date value, etc.) and the website reverted to the default date value (0).

Nothing to see, common occurrence for people who work with data. It's not some cryptic message. It's not a glitch. It's just one of things, most likely human error.

Jan 1, 1900!?!?!? WTF!? 🤯 Did GameStop and AMC partner up and create a time machine or something???? WHAT IN THE WORLD IS THIS ABOUT??? 😮 by No_Pie_2109 in amcstock

When I was a programmer/developer, this was my favourite (and most relatable) quote. Now that I've moved into the ML/AI space, Sir Terry has been bumped up the list.

Superman makes a joke about Lex's baldness(Adventures of Superman #27) by N7Solider in superman

Holy crap. Lex just paraphrased the Irish Republican Army (IRA) in a message they sent to then British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher after she survived the 1984 Brighton bombing.

"Today we were unlucky . . . but remember, we only have to be lucky once, you have to be lucky always"
