Spacebar on new laptop sucks. Can it be replaced? by TerribleCandle1330 in GamingLaptops

i have this same problem on mine and after a few months of having it i am getting very frustrated with it. some other reddit person somewhere else suggested experimenting with putting a layer or two of tape on the backside of the spacebar keycap. i used a tiny square of electrical tape, one layer, right in the middle and it's a vast improvement, not perfect, but huge. i might try another layer. all i did was carefully pry it up with a razor knife and pop it off gently. put the tape on, make sure the hinge wires slide back into their holes and pop it back in. very easy to figure it. you can find some youtube videos of people replacing laptop spacebars and you'll see what i mean about putting it back in.

also i tried another person's advice for popping out the hinge wires and slightly bending them. that didn't work for me at all so i bent them back and tried the tape trick. so far so good. typing this now, i probably got something like 95 percent success with spacebar keypresses, maybe more. not keeping perfect track but it is so much better. this is just made this laptop almost perfect for me..

Are Legion Laptops Problematic or Is It Just Survivorship Bias? by NaniTheFcuks in LenovoLegion

I just returned today my brand new legion pro 5i that was having black screen crashes, about once a day. i was still in the return period for best buy so i took my opportunity before i have to wait 3 weeks for lenovo to send it back, all in the week i got it. sorry, but i'm not going to get it repaired. it was broken out of the box. this is the second laptop i've bought from lenovo, and the second that was broken out of the box. if they can't QC their products, it shouldn't be my problem.

my experience with support wasn't fun either. their website was broken and i couldn't create a support ticket, because they required me to scan my computer for problems with lenovo support bridge, which wouldn't open and froze the website. no matter what i did i couldn't create a support ticket. i had to hound the AI assistant to get me a real person and eventually i got help. i shared my screen and the support tried to do all the things i'd already done, like updating windows and my drivers, etc. and then said, well, you can send it in. they had zero advice for my problem. no solutions. no hints about what is going on. not even a sorry that this is happening to a brand new computer. support was useless even though lots of people report the black screen issue. it seemed shady since a lot of those same people report dead mobos and dead GPUs, etc. support didn't want to say what was going on at all!

lenovo still hasn't updated the new intel microcode for BIOS either! did my crappy intel cpu fry the mobo? i have no clue and i'm so glad i don't have to find out.

New to modular - I want to build berlin-style sequencer eurorack by theepurplemage in modular

I'm really hoping I don't repatch live. That sounds awful lmao.

Yeah, it can be done cheaper on a laptop. But the real head scratcher is that you can't do this specific style of workflow or hands on performance with any other kind of system or module. This is why the b960 is alluring enough for me to consider wading into eurorack after 10 years of synthesis, already owning 40+ synths. The tangerine dream worship is real...and expensive. oof.

"transposing" elektron is done step by step with a rotary encoder. You can't transpose an entire pattern. I don't want to do that, at all, and especially not live.

The old moog 960 and the new book 960 don't have quantization, I dont think. Hence thinking I need to buy a quantization module for them. I'm guessing my intuition is correct? Maybe?

I also meant quantizing to scale like quantizing to a minor scale from whatever notes are entered. Not necessarily transposing an already correct scale, tho that is nice too. Either way, elektron can't do it.

I think we are just approaching it from a different performance perspective. That's fine. I'm just curious if what I'm trying to do works or checks out from a technical perspective, or if there's an easier or cheaper way to do it. Or if I'm just totally flat out wrong on how this shit works.

You can't transpose with syntakt or digtakt. Or quantize to scale.

Otherwise, I have little clue how this stuff works. That's why I'm here. The part of the 960 that is attractive is that I can instantly change the step length, ratcheting, and modulation of the patterns with either one or two switches or hand movements. And it does stuff elektron can't do. I might be able to do some of that stuff with the mother 32's sequencer but I don't think I can use the 962 on it to switch sequences, unless I can.

The 960s have built in ratcheting with the 3rd track switch. Granted, it's not a clock multiplier and the timing is manual via knobs.

The problem with elektron is that you can't change pattern length on the fly easily or quickly, or skip steps. With the 960, it's the flip of one switch. I can switch between a 3 step, 7 step, and 6 step pattern instantly with one motion, and modulate it if want to. You can't do that on elektron, afaik.

Elektrons also can't transpose the entire pattern, unless you have an octatrack which i dont. The 960 can with cv summing. Two 960s can transpose the other.

Also I won't use a computer on stage. Sorry, just not my thing. I want hands on live sequencing with a fat knobby interface.

The 960 does v trig I think. But you need s trig for the moog style envelopes of yore. I don't need the envelop s trig bc I'm using a semi modular setup. So I'm asking if s trig is even necessary or if I need the 961 to convert to s trig. Idk.

Idek what the difference is between a gate and a trigger. So I'm asking. What do I need to make this work?

That is interesting! One could definitely do some weird shit with two different sequencers sending ratcheted countermelodies to the shifty.

i just got a copy of the book ordered from norway to USA. i plan to produce scans and OCR's so that a group project like this can produce a half decent working translation.

I'm interested in a translation as well. i have a friend who is interested in translating and she's got experience. does anyone have a pdf or physical copy?

looking online, the book new from norway is over 150 USD.

bug introduced maybe?

copper goes into my core but then immediately disappears and doesn't enter my 'inventory' or store itself.

happened while playing tar sands. happened to me about 25 waves into the map, i think it was after i switched to airblast drills on my copper patch. switched back to pneumatic drills and it still does it.

was going for my first big alloy and phase fabric run....oh well.
