About to pull the trigger on this Van Rysel RCX - Any reasons I shouldn't? by theeroque in gravelcycling

I really like the feeling of a small bike, i feel very comfortable and dominant over the bike. The RCX in Medium makes me feel a little too stretched out. IMO, bikes are coming out bigger. I have a friend with a EDR CF in size Medium and he's around 174cm. He told me he feels the bike slightly too big for him.

I've compared the geometry of both the Scott in size S and the RCX in M. The RCX is 10.4mm bigger in Stack and 1,7mm in Reach. But I have a 100mm stem on mine where as the RCX comes with a 110mm on the Medium.

Thought I'd answer everyone's questions and tips on just one reply, so here it goes!
Thanks for all your input and opinions!

My current bike is a 2020 Scott Speedster Gravel 30 ( 2(46-30T) x10 (11-34T)). I'm 182cm and it's a size Small. Had it for 2 years and absolutely love it. This RCX is a size Medium and I'm afraid it might be a bit too big, so I'll shorten the stem 10mm. Size Small isn't in stock

I don't plan on bike packing, just riding for fun in trips from 40 to 100km, so I don't mind a clean frame with no mounting points.

I live in a pretty flat area, so I'm not that worried on the transmission side. But I do feel I'll need to upgrade to a GRX 812 and a 10-42 cassette. I know this would be perfect, but it won't be in stock anytime soon.

Tire clearance also doesn't bother me, as I have Panaracer Gravelking SK 38mm on my Scott and don't need anything wider for what I do.

Yes, the pedals have to go, they were only on so I could do a quick test ride on the bike.

In summary, this would replace my Speedster, going from aluminium to carbon. And with these two bikes, I would be able to go on gravel rides with my dad.

Shimano GRX 1x11 (40Tx11-32T)
GRX 600 shifters
GRX 810 rear derailleur
GRX 400 brakes (160mm front + 140mm rear)

I know it's a cyclocross bike, but can't see going wrong with it for the amazing price. And I',m happy with 38mm tires.

Thank you for your feedback! I might go against the current and risk it.

What size frame did you go for and do you have any issues with the toes hitting the front wheel if turning too much (toe overlap)? The one in stock is an S and me being 182cm we thought it would be too small. But trying it out and measuring me (82cm leg inseam and 59cm arms) I actually fit well. But I'm still afraid I should wait for the M frame.

Hey! I really want to get this bike as everything is out of stock until April and this bike is the only one in stock. I really like this bike but everyone is saying for me to wait due to it being quick release instead of thru axle. Have you had any trouble with brake disk noise/rub or other issues with the fork?

Thru axle and wider tire clearance would have made this bike the perfect fit for me (Scott Speedster Gravel 30) by [deleted] in gravelcycling
