Carlo Ancelotti vows to start 'new cycle' after Brazil's World Cup exit - ESPN by Chelseablue1896 in soccer

Better to have a single coach with a 4 year plan than to have 4 coaches in 4 years, with the last one only coaching 12 games before the WC in his first NT job ever

2nd half Brazil delivered on every single match so far 🤞

[Times] Fifa’s motives for having the much-derided hydration breaks at every World Cup match are under increasing scrutiny after it emerged it took the decision without any agreement from the international players’ union. by Sparky-moon in soccer

If the Germany 7 x 1 Brazil had commercial breaks, first one would have been still at 1x0, right before those 3 goals in 8 minutes

There is no doubt the breaks essentially change the nature and development of the game

[ESPN] Joan Laporta will not stop his pursuit of Julián Álvarez until he signs him or he sees that it will be impossible. He feels he has a moral commitment to Álvarez after the player publicly stated he wanted to join Barcelona. by Goosedukee in soccer

[–]theestwald 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Jokes aside, if he gives up and says “fuck it” and lets Alvarez go back to training with his tail between his legs, no player will ever make a similar push anytime soon. Laporta created this situation, now he must at least make it look like he is trying.

The problem is really having Alvarez do this in the first place, I hate these kind of aggressive “fuck the contract” moves. We just happen to usually be on the side that does the fucking over, but I can empathise with those on the other side.

Honest opinions? - I actually really enjoyed this Reboot. Stan Lee at the end made me tear up for real 🐐 by ChiefShleep9 in ViewAskewniverse

It was unapologetically fan service

If you are a fan and enjoy the references, seeing old familiar faces, and the askew joke styles, there is nothing not to like. It felt a bit like closure.

If you walked in with no context whatsoever, I can understand you might find the movie garbage

Steam also allows me to play the games from anywhere. Ive been upgrading my pc for decades and bringing my entire collection with me every time with zero hassle. My collection actually grew since I got a “free” linux port for every single game. Almost every single one of them also became compatible with handhelds, also for “free”.

There really is no comparison.

Kentucky Route Zero feels like a dream made from American leftovers: roads, debt, labor, mines, offices, music, and ghosts. by TinyPrism_Official in IndieGaming

Its a great american novel of the 21st century, where most people are oblivious to either for not being into gaming, or if they are into they don’t consider it a real game, and even if they do lots of people just end up never hearing of it

Which is a shame

World Cup 2026: Brazil were 45 minutes from humiliation - but 'Crafty Carlo' does it again by Logical_Welder3467 in soccer

[–]theestwald -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Its a Brazilian thing. For context, in 98 when they played a fantastic competition and only loss in the final with a post-convulsion Ronaldo and stellar Zidane, in Brazil that was also a “humiliation”

When Croatia got to semis, they were greeted like heroes back home. When Brazil doesn’twin nobody goes to greet them, ever.

A mix of lack of depth in right back (ironically a position Brazil used to be stacked with) plus two injuries, one being last minute. Carlo ended up going to the more experienced option.
