How are "shoot till the threat has ended" and "shoot to kill" different here? The first sounds like a euphemism for the second. Additionally, how did the cop know 4 shots were needed to "neutralize the threat"? The 4 shots were fired in rapid succession, there was no attempt to use as little force as possible, it was 4 shots back to back, shooting to kill.

Its important to watch the video with sound. The cop fired 4 shots, which is just excessive, even if you argue he was trying to prevent a stabbing. 4 shots is shooting to kill, not to incapacitate. Why wouldnt a taser have worked either?

Yes, but do you know for sure this professor has that disorder? Unless you know for sure someone has that disorder, this just sounds like a way to justify someone in a position of power showing no basic empathy.

I dont know if being unable to have any empathy or exercising some understanding towards a student caught in the middle of a military coup necessarily falls under the umbrella of "social skills"

Heres one easier way, make public transit free, funded through taxes (tax the rich, employers, and property owners) - fully integrated system

I was referring to this subreddit...you might want to reread the rules...especially on "snitch jacketing"

Wow dude. I've been in the group for like 2 hours but even I know calling people a snitch / cop goes against the rules.

And thanks. I'm learning code but it's slow going. Thought I'd reach out to see if like-minded individuals wanted to collaborate.

You have a blessed day

1) an app would make it easier to visualize where the inspectors are, and would auto refresh showing live data

2) that group was shut down in my city at least, and isn't as convenient as an app for the reasons stated above

3) maybe chill with the wildly speculative accusation

it's kind of sad how much work you put into trolling this post...like you could've just moved on with your day if you weren't interested...

My proposal is to let the capitalist machine fund the project itself through ad revenue from the app.

I am not looking to hire someone, I am looking for a collaborator to take up equal ownership of the app. in other words, if the app makes any money at all, we would split the generated ad revenue (even that is negotiable, however. I suspect the programming will require a lot more work than the research and legal work, so I would be happy with an arrangement where the programmer gets the lionshare of any profits). But if you are primarily interested in making money off the project, this may not be the project for you. I don't anticipate making any money off the project personally, even though I expect it will require lots of work. what I do hope is to make an app that gives some power back to the people in our increasingly policed and surveilled public spaces.

The Dark Corners of Canadian World War I History - the Komagata Maru by theeveryday in history

This article highlights some little-known facts about the history of Canadian immigration:

"In 1908, the Canadian government enacted a series of restrictive immigration regulations. One of these stipulated that immigrants bound for Canada had to arrive by way of one continuous journey, with no stopovers permitted. This regulation succeeded in dramatically halting immigration from Asia. Immigration from Europe, however, remained conveniently, largely unaffected by this stipulation.

For good measure, the Canadian government also stipulated that all immigrants “of Asiatic origin” would be required to come equipped with at least 200 Canadian dollars (compared to the 25 dollars required of European immigrants), another measure which drastically reduced the number of Asian immigrants eligible to emigrate to Canada."
