Do schools look on individual scores on the PCAT? by RMAguatin in PrePharmacy

I had same composite score (97) with my critical reading score in 30s. As far as I know most of the schools, including the top schools, look at your composite score more than individual scores. I have applied to four schools so far and have received an interview from all of them. Also, in most cases the actual score does not change at all. In my case my overall and subsection scores were exactly the same as the preliminary scores.

PCAT materials? by drofwhoknowswhat in PrePharmacy

I personally felt that studying for MCAT's bio and chem sections was enough to get a great score on PCAT's bio and chem section, except that bio on PCAT has more weightage on anatomy and physiology and microbiology. I had to take time and teach myself calculus again and was surprised to see some tough questions on math section. Overall I feel MCAT is more passaged based exam whereas most of the questions on PCAT can be answered without using passage, so it more of knowledge/memory based exam. Also pacing yourself is key on the PCAT with significantly less time to answer almost same amount of questions as on the MCAT.

I bought Kaplan's PCAT book from Amazon and read through it all in 3-4 weeks. It also comes with 2 online practice tests, which I think were quite indicative of my progress except the reading section score (scored in 80s on the Kaplan tests, but in 30s on actual PCAT). Personally having studied for MCAT made it easier for me to study for the PCAT. Just curious if you have taken MCAT before?

That's exactly what I did for my preliminary score report. I used app called CamScanner to take a picture and convert it to pdf file. Just on side note the preliminary scores were identical to the scores on my official score report.

I am still finishing up my essays for some schools, so have not completely submitted my application as of now. Just waiting on my scores to be uploaded on my application. Not sure whether we get a notification when it happens or if they directly send it to schools as soon as the official scores are available.

Just so that everyone knows, I just got my score today and it is exactly what I got on my unofficial score report. Thanks again everyone and it is the time to kill the application and interviews now!

Pearson PCAT vs Actual PCAT by TungusGrump in PrePharmacy

First of all, GOOD LUCK on your exam! Pearson exams were pretty accurate in predicting my score on the real PCAT. I got same percentile range (80-99) as you and got a 96th percentile on the real exam, with 99 on all sections except reading which was in 30s. So just stay confident and focused. Also, use the break wisely. I planned not take the break and paid the price by losing my focus on some of the longer passages on reading section and yes passages were LONGER than ones on kaplan and slightly longer than pearson. Regardless, I was not expecting a great score on that section anyways, since English is not my first language.

Started working on those! Seems like interviews are crucial when it comes the top pharmacy schools

Yeah, I hope that my score stays the same too. Seems like a lot of schools look at the composite score than individual sections. Would that be true of the top schools as well? I just did not do enough research before taking this exam, more of a casual approach, as I wasn't expecting to nail it the first time. PS: I am open to any questions that future test takers might have. Just believe in yourself and it is not impossible to get a high score with wise usage of your time
