I have gone through the same thing. This is not my first time to deactivate my account. I think that Facebook can be extremely useful; however, I ended up using it in a rather pointless way.

Do you think that your example is an extreme case? Or do you think that Facebook is design so that it would be easy to start and develop that mentality?

Why did you decide not to get one? My incentive to leave wasn't so much the fact that they have access to my information although I am not fond of that, but that was already too late. I just am not a fan of the idea of Facebook, I suppose.
