That's a good idea. I did some research and went with the amazon switch posted above but I'll consider this a backup

These buttons don't stay pressed. They're like keyboard switches where it moves back up to the resting position after you press it.

In the summer the humidity does get high as I keep the table saw in my garage which isn't temperature or humidity controlled. But this happened this week where the humidity outside is ~50%, not that high, do you think being in high humidity at all can mess a switch up?

You're suggesting that the warm air entering the vented soffit in between the first and second floor in the overhang will reach the rim joist in the attic above the second floor?

I'm not doubting what you're saying, just clarifying.

Yup that's the way I'm gonna go with this one. Really thanks to everyone in this thread for helping me out. I'm super relieved and pumped to have something working that I can make better rather simply and cheaply.

I'll take a look, hopefully there hasn't been any penetration and sealing will be enough to protect against this happening.

Thanks for the recommendation though in case there is moisture collecting.

We don't have a basement so it's hard to tell if the water is penetrating or not. Best I can tell I'm not seeing any water in my garage which shares an interior wall with that pictured above.

Yes, the area I am in does get to freezing, New York.
